The Politics of 'Climate-change'

I don't know. This is a guess. but surely the above is boIIocks, for the following reason.?

If you only did short journeys on a hybrid, then the batteries would just go flat. At some point the IC engine has to cut-in to recharge the batteries, even if it is not actually used to propel the car. Unless you have to re-charge hybrids from the mains, which rather defeats the object.

But in general the hybrid is the much better option. But a really expensive one, nonetheless.

Good news for us petrol-heads yesterday, when the price of Brent Crude fell very low. I thought we were running out of oil ? I think it's a bluff.
Almost every Uber driver I get in London either has or had a hyrbrid Prius and raved about the cost efficiency

I was referring to a plug in hybrid, but accept I didn’t make that clear. Some can now run up to 70 miles on their battery alone and only after then will the petrol engine be used.

We aren’t running out of oil. Yet. That’s not the reason to stop burning it though. We need it for other purposes so ought to conserve it whilst finding alternative, less polluting, ways to provide the power we need.

Sorry, i meant purchase price was high,..not the running costs.

I drive a self-charging hybrid (Corolla). Very nice, comfortable, nippy car. It runs on battery alone when you are doing under 30mph. Wouldn't say mileage is outstanding - I average about 50mpg. You can get 60mpg on good runs if you drive in Eco-mode, have the car empty and drive very sedately and carefully.

Fraudsters and scammers didn't take long to ride the eco gravy train

"The UK government is investigating a fast-growing "green fuel" called HVO diesel amid claims of significant fraud, the BBC has learned.
And data analysed by the BBC and shared with the UK's Department for Transport casts further doubt on one of the key ingredients in HVO, a material called palm sludge waste.
Europe used more of this waste in HVO and other biofuels in 2023 than it is thought possible for the world to produce." (BBC website)

The stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones, same with iron and bronze, and it'll be the same with oil.

Didn't VW fraud and scam?

I just want to let you know that you are fighting a losing battle, and you WILL lose. It'll be either because manufacturers have finally shut down their ICE lines (no manufacturer is going to run both lines) or it's because global warming finally proved to be a cost too high for current civilisation and this blip of a society crashed out.

Man made global warming or natural global warming. One has a huge impact and the other is man made !

Did they mention the risk of getting your catalytic converter nicked by organised gangs?
