The Politics of 'Climate-change'

A fine example of the fear mongering I was talking about 👍🏻

Really? So when those massive hurricanes were covered hitting Florida, and then the biggest wildfires ever following years of drought, followed by massive rainfall, you considered that "Fearmongering".

Next transfer window don't appeal for a need for a replacement for Guehi, because that would be fearmongering.

There's something called peer review....... That's what keeps science being science.

I have been a peer reviewer numerous times it's meaningless and it is done for a bit of extra $$$

Nothing science about it most do not even read the material they are given again had you been involved in any of this science you would understand this.

I dont own a car (as I care about the environment 😉 ) but there is gocar I use when I need to drive somewhere. There's a few parked around the corner from me and they are handy.

Exactly the kind of car share thing I'm referring to evolving.

I have an EV but it is via a work scheme. It's lovely but it's definitely not a solution.

So you are a scientist then? And you are saying that they shouldn't be respected?

I don't deny climate change. It's a natural part of the earth that has happened for many years.

It's simply used to fear monger and raise taxes.

I was.

Retired now.

Why should we/they be respected most of the claimed science now is junk it's flooded with useless opinion pieces or claimed studies which are funded by bias parties.

People would publish because they had to for $$$ reasons or to gain a title/job.

The only people who should be respected are the ones to really contribute something solid not how many published papers they have put out or how much funding they have had.

Comment above me is correct and it's a form of control.

Health care and agriculture are large pollutants but you do not ever hear about those they will misdirect you to its the animals that are the problem they let out to many gases (If you look into the figures its a straight up lie)

They want to stop us eating animals again because it's about $$$

The science is at a tipping point, because the earth is seemingly getting hotter at an accelerating rate. We are at a point where previously (according to ice core samples before anthropogenic activity began) natural mechanisms have come into effect to cool the Earth.
If a precautionary approach was being adopted, everyone on the planet would be insulating their house and using public transport, cycling etc, etc.

But not everyone is. The UK citizens are being disproportionately taxed , even when our economy is stuffed.
Meanwhile, USA, China, Russia are burning fossil fuels like there's no tomorrow.

That may be true, but it's no reason to stop doing the right thing just because someone else is doing the wrong thing.

I am, however, a believer that the UK is simple not in a position to commit to the net zero targets been set for us.
We are heavily reliant on other countries to supply us with fossil fuels, and are being charged huge amounts. Presumably because we are an Island on the eastern edge of europe, and are being held to ransom. Ofgems policy(and presumably the governments too) is to grow renewables so we aren't reliant on this any longer and can control our own energy prices. But renewables are so far off being able to do this, it's scary. Someone on bbc news this morning mentioning it won't be til 2040 that we'll start seeing energy prices affected.
We should continue to use our native fossil fuels where we can in order to lower the cost of to our country so we can also have the money to invest in the renewable infrastructure at a lower cost to us. But alas, this government would rather make our green numbers look good by closing all the oil rigs/mines/fracking sites than actually help their citizens out.

Yes cows burp methane. But you as a scientist surely would understand the difference in long and short term carbon cycles?? Cows don't drink oil to produce that methane do they?

According to your logic, because scientists are paid, they can't be trusted. Therefore what they publish is made up nonsense.

Do you disagree with the findings in the Vostok cores?

Total?

Yes.

Firstly the claim that the climate change we are experiencing is natural is complete bs.

So is the idea that it exists solely to instil fear and raise taxes.

Your reference to the article on why energy prices are rising is pretty much in the same category. Rising energy prices are the result of market conditions, the cause of which is primarily the war in Ukraine but not helped by the uncertainty caused by Trump.

These government appointed jobsworths are living on a different planet. They maybe able to afford heat pumps and electric vehicles but in truth for most British people it’s a luxury they cannot afford in these difficult economic times. Agreed

The “net zero” sector has grown by 10% in the past year, adding £83 billion to the UK economy and boosting regional growth, it stands out from the rest as a potential winner for us.

Very bullish report and good to see something positive on the horizon.

🙂

Another one of those 100% deals, eh?
Congratulations on getting Trump in there though.

If it is that urgent why don’t hmg give us free stuff to help instead of forcing change many can’t or will never afford.
