Sunderland vs. Crystal Palace match thread

He pulled the same stunt at his previous clubs.
Game's up Ollie, you've been found out. You knew the score when you took the job, the chairman, the finances, what did you expect?
Ollie, you have one party trick, and it's a good one, until it isn't, and then there's nothing else. A common narcissistic trait is to lay blame elsewhere and not take ownership of one's own role in a given situation. It looks like you are determined to ruin whatever legacy you might have built with the club. A great shame.
Other chairmen will have noted your performance Ollie.
Steve, is that you?

Lads , in the morning we will still be Palace and proud and he will still be a c*** .

Like who? Rak-Saki and Esse? Neither are good enough. Neither would have changed a single thing about the game today.
This is truly ridiculous. EVERYONE agreed it was too early to expect a turn around and get anything out of today. We predictably lose (after being the better team in the first half) and now everyone is looking for blame or thinking they had the answer but Glasner is too stubborn.
Well, I disagree. Rak-Saki and Esse would have made our bench stronger. Anyone of those two would have been good enough to come on after 70 mins for Pino. Then we have Uche who could have also come on as a 3 man substitution. The weakness of our squad since injuries and Afcon would have helped if they were available. The problem is more Glasner as he would not have brought them on anyway? It was an awful second half today which was crying out for changes. Why bring back our right back / wing back from loan and then not make a tactical change removing Devenny as we needed to attack after Devenny being at fault for the second goal. Glasner used not bringing on subs to make a statement. He screwed up again, just like he did in important games like KUPS and Macclesfield. At the moment we are looking likely to get pulled into a relegation fight and we are the worse form team out there presently. Something needs to change and soon :-(

Sorry people but he's gotta go.. You cant have the manager openly slagging off the owners and refusing to make substitutions because he's sulking so it's at a detriment to the team.

Don't get me wrong he's right in what he's saying to a degree but this is starting to turn ugly and toxic and that's not good.

You know what I think he wants out but doesn't want to walk away himself so he's saying things like this so that he leaves the board no choice but to sack him.

Been taking lessons from Nuno

When OGs talking about Guehi being sold...he knew that Marc was leaving at end of season whatever and avoided a sale in the summer but he must understand that this window it was extremely likely we would accept an offer so as to balance books and buy a replacement?!

Comes across as naive unless he was assured the player would remain all season?

If he knew that Guehi was going then surely Parish did too. So where's the replacement? It's the 17th Jan. We needed another centre half so why wait till Guehi was sold? Now we need 2 and we haven't been linked with any.

Balance the books? It's been said multiple times we have no issue with FPP. We don't need to sell to buy.

The Parish excuses are embarrassing now.

Typical knee-jerk comments crying about Glasner. He's only saying what we're all thinking.

Hours before kick off and he gets told he can't play Eze.

24 hours before kick off and he gets told he can't play Guehi.

Remind me - did Semenyo get pulled before Bournemouth's game even though they had practically sold him to City?

Parish has screwed him. Twice. Because we capitulate to the bigger clubs. We've needed another centre half all season and 2 weeks into January and we've not only not got any, we've now lost one.

Parish out. Should have sold his stake to Johnson after the final.
Simon, is that you?

I think some people are missing the obvious point here, either deliberately or because it doesn’t fit the outrage narrative.

That £20m isn’t for the current manager. It’s for the next one.

Once Oliver Glasner has decided he’s off in October, the club would be negligent not to start acting in its own long-term interests. You don’t stop running the club just to protect the ego of a manager who’s already halfway out the door.

Selling Marc Guéhi for £20m the day before a game isn’t betrayal, it’s forward planning. That money will be given to the next manager so they can shape the squad the way they want, not limp along propping up a short-term project that’s already been abandoned.

The real issue for me was the post-match tantrum. Publicly saying there’s “nobody you can bring off the bench” is dreadful man-management. You’ve just told every squad player they’re useless and then wondered why things aren’t clicking. Good managers improve players. They don’t throw them under the bus to make a point.

This whole episode fits a familiar pattern. Early bounce, some structure, then friction, public complaints, and finally blaming the club when reality intrudes. It’s not new, and it’s not clever.

If anything, today proved the sale was the right decision. The club is thinking about what’s best for club beyond the next few weeks. The manager clearly isn’t.

Thanks for the memories, but once you start publicly undermining your own squad and sulking about sensible long-term decisions, the writing’s on the wall. I’d be very surprised if he’s still in the job next week. That was him daring them to fire him.

Clubs move on. Managers who forget that usually get moved on for them.

slagging off the board/owners in public *technically called disparagement" is cause for dismissal. The club needs a clean slate to rebuild, so never mind who is to blame for this debacle, Olie leaves and the board find a replacement, which really saddens me, but ..... the telling aspect is poor leadership in the Soho offices.
