Sunderland vs. Crystal Palace match thread

I think that post interview might be the last one we see of Glasner….
Agreed he’s changed his tune from the press conference about it’s not about the transfer windows … it clearly is and I don’t blame him he’s probably been promised signings and he ain’t got them . But get rid of him he clearly don’t want to be there . He made no subs as a clear message to the board . He has none worthy of putting on .

Have you watched him at coventry or are you just spouting nonsense? He is absolutely good enough to get into a team that have not won a game in 10 games. Nobody is saying he is world class but he would definitely offer us something different. Glasner thinks devenny is good enough so his ideas on who is good or not is of little importance as his talent id is horrible
I watched Esse this afternoon (1st half) and I never drew that conclusion.
We all have our opinions and over the years I have been on a different page to some when assessing players !

Thing is he’s done the blaming the transfer business thing at the last three clubs he’s been at (including us). We clearly should have brought in more depth in the summer but having a pop at the Board for selling Guehi is ridiculous.

At some point you have to conclude this is OG’s MO in that he finds a reason to say why he won’t stay around even when he had no intention of doing so.

Also I don’t want people who want to make a point by not making a sub. I want people 100% committed to doing their best to help us get results.

Like who? Rak-Saki and Esse? Neither are good enough. Neither would have changed a single thing about the game today.
This is truly ridiculous. EVERYONE agreed it was too early to expect a turn around and get anything out of today. We predictably lose (after being the better team in the first half) and now everyone is looking for blame or thinking they had the answer but Glasner is too stubborn.
True, it I’m at a loss as to how to stop the rot; one reason why I’m not a football trainer!! Our bench, were there even 5 PL starts between them. Injuries effected every team but when there is so squad development it‘s practically self-inflicted and negligent from the top down, unfortunately it for the first time.

If Parish does sack him it will cost money by paying off his remaining contract and we need all the cash we can get especially as Angers are demanding 10 million more than we want to pay for Cherki.

We should temporarily at least suspend our 'buy young' policy and get some experienced older players, on loan if necessary.

The severe knock to our morale after Macclesfield, Guehi leaving and Glasner's press conference should not be underestimated.

If we do get a replacement please ensure it is not Frank or Southgate.

No Subs to try & shake it up a bit seems strange when you're losing 2-1. I'm reading elsewhere that's the first time in 3yrs that we haven't made a substitution in a game.
It’s OG trying to make a point.

“Look it’s not my fault we’ve only got 2 points from 21 and lost to a 6th tier team. I don’t have the players.”

Regardless of the merits of whether we need more depth it is pretty pathetic and not an attitude we need at the club. Looks to me like he wants to b fired and frankly if he isn’t committed to helping us win we should indulge his wishes

Just seen the post-match interview, basically a massive childish sulk blaming Parish but without naming him.
Do that publicly at any firm and you're toast. The boss might not always be right but he's always the boss.
2-1 down with 15 mins to go you roll the dice, take someone off probably Devenny put on Uche. He did nothing which I also see a part of the sulk.
I don't see how Parish can keep a manager that's started a war of words with the board.

That’s seems to be correct, Parish let him down in the summer window and has repeated it again this window to date. Glasner has not got the tools, the subs struggled against Macclesfield when given the chance. Let’s face it we will not be the first team to win the FA Cup and maybe get relegated the following season. The buck stops with the board and Parish.

Well he's certainly not doing himself any favours.
I struggle to see any Premier League team hiring him now.

My guess is he'll bugger off back to the continent, probably sooner rather than later.

Such a shame it's unravelled this way, but not surprising considering his past form.

At least we have the memories of last year.

Typical knee-jerk comments crying about Glasner. He's only saying what we're all thinking.

Hours before kick off and he gets told he can't play Eze.

24 hours before kick off and he gets told he can't play Guehi.

Remind me - did Semenyo get pulled before Bournemouth's game even though they had practically sold him to City?

Parish has screwed him. Twice. Because we capitulate to the bigger clubs. We've needed another centre half all season and 2 weeks into January and we've not only not got any, we've now lost one.

Parish out. Should have sold his stake to Johnson after the final.

There plenty of blame to go around. We should have done more in the summer but OG can’t use that as an excuse for only 2 points from 21 and losing to Macclesfield. I didn’t expect 5 wins or anything but not winning in ten just ain’t good enough. Also not ok for OG to slag off the board in public.

I have just viewed his post-match interview.
The target of his ire was clearly obvious, he was unequivocal in his condemnation and I suspect many supporters will be sympathetic to his viewpoint.
How his comments will be received within the 'Corridors of power' is open to speculation.

He pulled the same stunt at his previous clubs.
Game's up Ollie, you've been found out. You knew the score when you took the job, the chairman, the finances, what did you expect?
Ollie, you have one party trick, and it's a good one, until it isn't, and then there's nothing else. A common narcissistic trait is to lay blame elsewhere and not take ownership of one's own role in a given situation. It looks like you are determined to ruin whatever legacy you might have built with the club. A great shame.
Other chairmen will have noted your performance Ollie.
