Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Pick anyone at random anywhere near you. They are on a par with Sanogo. In fairness, Bamford improved quite dramatically. I know I looked up Sanogo maybe three years ago or so. He hadn't improved as far as I could tell. Can't remember where he was playing but I remember thinking that anybody could play if he could. He made that Weah fake player look good.
Ali Dia!

Bamford was good before us and good after. Not amazing, but Palace was definitely the worst he's ever been.

Man was carrying three haircuts, what have the people on here ever achieved?
For some reason we had fondness for Chamakh. He had the odd moment. He looked like a footballer. And I have to suspect he was an international. I'm thinking, however, that there were moments that the team around that time was a motley crew somewhat reminiscent of the mid 80s. There were some downright awful players if we be honest with ourselves. Even some of our heroes were actually rubbish. Nearly all of our songs about players were sarcastic rather than praise. Kind of a good joke amongst ourselves.

One season where I attended about 5 games (I have had a ST but generally only attend 1 game most seasons) I remember saying to my uncle one week "if we score, we'll go to the club shop and buy one of those Soccer Starz characters of whoever scores". We won 1-0 and Chamakh scored the goal so two grown men purchased Chamakh toys. Mine eventually got broken because it was on my desk in Brighton and I suspect the cleaner snapped his legs on purpose. But I do remember constantly telling people "trust me, he's still gonna come good" but really didn't prove me right...at least not statistically.

Apparently, Sanogo is 32 & 'playing' for Amasonas FC in Brazil. No, I've never heard of them either.

With Harvey Eliott and Reiss Nelson being touted it is now obvious that we are in the " bargain basement" area such a shame.
We need depth.

If they can play to Glasner's style and can stay fit how can you be disappointed?

Squad fillers with plenty of game time for 2 of the biggest clubs on the planet can be squad fillers for us, surely?

Do we honestly think we have climbed so far up the food chain we can turn our noses up at players like Elliot who has plenty of game time in the EPL and ECL.

More likely, we cannot afford his wages, we cannot guarantee much more game time than Liverpool, and he will consider it a colossal drop for him.

And much more likely, all these stories have been planted by his agents to secure an improved contract with Liverpool.

Good job you didn't get the Franca one or you'd be bankrupt buying the medical accessories. Less Action Man more Inaction Traction Man.
The Marc Guehi one won't stay where it's supposed to be.
The Will Hughes one is invisible in sunlight but comes with a packing case of yellow cards.

Certainly the most skilful on the list, but after we signed him permanently, he only started 16 league games in over two seasons - so hardly good value
Agree Chamakh's overall impact was disappointing. However I remember going to see Palace win an FA Cup tie away at Southampton 3-2 (I think Sanogo played too). That day Chamakh was the best player on the pitch by a mile, so can't really work out why he didn't deliver more for us.

Nobody speaks bad about Marouane Chamakh
He was the first real marque signing after we got promoted. By marque I mean an established premier league player who had played for some serious teams (Arsenal, Man City).

I thought he did well overall for us, although the stats do not back that up. The front players were pretty much feeding off scraps for most of the season and the way he initiated and led the press out of posession was really important for us.

Sadly injury then took its toll.

If we end this torturous transfer window with Pino Colada, Connor and Akanji plus a couple of other squad players... Parish has pulled a rabbit out his arse... I mean hat.

Also can I just commend some of the subtle but very funny comments you posters put on here sometimes. I genuinely laugh out loud sometimes. Genius.

If you're going to say he went to some dump like Turkey where even you would bag a brace every week then yes, I did miss him becoming quite the striker.
I'll put it this way. He scored in Athletico Madrid's last game. And has been consistent for years now. Played in the Champions League latter stages, internationally (obviously) and one of La Liga's best strikers. Not even an exaggeration. I know, it seems weird. I often just forget about him.

Yes. this would be the sort of despeartion move Palace would get forced into by not stocking up earlier. An injured player whom the team he was on loan with last year are not interested in acquiring
Previous Arsenal players we have had here include
Nketiah
Holding
Lokonga
Flamini
Chamakh
Hard to say any of those were a success in terms of value for money
Ashley Cole best defensive loan we ever had.

Chamakh was quality in a poor team.
