Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

But the average salary at Celtic is about £16,000 a week so he'd have to accept quite a pay cut.

You can't pay attention to averages.

Clubs like Celtic have handful of players they pay around 40k the rest are on half that.

Ed was on around that before he signed for Palace and if we really need him gone may even offer to cover bit extra for wages.

He is a good player but another one who mental wise is an issue.

With the whole Dougie thing, I figured Glasner doesn't want a Director of Football. For instance, I doubt Dougie would have signed Kamada.
This is an interesting point. Parish mentioned on Lineker's podcast how OG is "a new breed of manager" who still actively manages the playing and technical staff, but who at the same time uses data in a much more profound way.

So maybe the data and systems interpreting that data have taken over some/all of the traditional DoF role.

Have we gone full Moneyball?

Always suspicious of this sort of story. It’s common knowledge he is in talks to extend with Palace, Palace won’t want to sell anyway. So all this really does is stir that process in Mateta,s favour in his agents haggling. Like Marc, I hope he remains professional and doesn’t have his head turned.
Palace will definitely not want to sale JP - he's so crucial to our formation and we know Eddie N is not an adequate replacement.
As for this article below - where did £26m come from - complete made up b*llocks. If he were to leave we'd need/want nearer double that.

They don't have many earning that.

I am trying to count on my fingers the number of:

1. Genuine number nines;
2. with Premier League experience;
3. who can play up top on their own;
4. score goals, and;
5. make a difference against the top sides.

I do not even need one full hand. He is worth way more than £26m in the current market.
