Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

On a positive note Eddy back to Celtic gaining momentum. One report suggested a fee of £15m. I think not. A free more likely with the year balance of his inflated wages to be met.

£15m - in your dreams. He's on over £90k a week, well out of Celtic's budget.

The best we can hope for is a loan with Palace paying a (large)% of wages, as we did with Jeff S.

If he were to be sold i don't think we could command a fee as his salary is so high - unless maybe a US or Saudi team came in for him

People for years have spread that misinformation about his wages he is on around 65k not 90 but he does have bonuses like all players as well which can go on top.

He doesn't want to go US already declined that before and stated it

Liverpool are in talks to sign Etiteke which hopefully puts to bed their interest in JPM - if ever there was any.
I seem to recall we were linked with Etiteke a few seasons ago with Freedman scouting him.

We were. He was at PSG and they wanted him to go to Germany but he was keen to come to the PL and apparently would have come to us. However, as I recall (and I may be wrong) we wanted (or could only afford) a loan deal whereas Frankfurt were prepared to buy him.
Shame.

PS there may have been an issue about his character.

I can only see that our transfer business will again be done late in the window due to the on going European debacle.

And from what I have read.....

Guehi is not going to go to a club where isnt a 1st choice CB, which is probably why the Liverpool connection has not moved on. He could well be here next season.

Eze won't be going anywhere unless the full release clause is met and paid in very sizeable chunks, not spread out over many years. Arsenal and Spurs don't appear to be agreeable ot that, so again could easily be here next season.

If all of the fa cup team stay and we can get one or two over the line, that is not a terrible transfer window. OG will be able to hit the ground running. However if at the final moments of the window we lose Eze and MG… we will be buggered.

But the average salary at Celtic is about £16,000 a week so he'd have to accept quite a pay cut.

Whoever we buy i hope we stick to our principals of buying young talent that can grow into better players, not the Benteke/Sakho route.

I get the feeling Glasner is still searching Dougie’s old office for his notebook. Either that or the UEFA thing seems to have scuppered our entire transfer plans.

So much for Glasner’s request to get business done early so we can smoothly integrate in pre-season.

The trouble is that we may hope to get our business done early but other clubs are holding out(as we) for top dollar.

Phew, we can all breathe a sigh of relief now, JP is not off the AC Milan . . .

Always suspicious of this sort of story. It’s common knowledge he is in talks to extend with Palace, Palace won’t want to sell anyway. So all this really does is stir that process in Mateta,s favour in his agents haggling. Like Marc, I hope he remains professional and doesn’t have his head turned.
