Southampton Predictions.

We haven't lost away from home in the league since Forest in October. Apparently, we are the first team to win six away games (in all competitions) without conceding a goal. Southampton could still end the season with the lowest points total in history. Everything points towards a comfortable win for us. My two concerns are that, under their new manager, Saints have been going very direct and our back three do not always dominate in the air. Second, I'm not sure Glasner will risk playing JP from the start again and without him we sometimes struggle without a focal point. Regardless, I still think we'll win, but perhaps a narrow 0-1 rather than anything more eye-catching.

Southampton have also been playing some games without a striker and Joe Aribo at centre back in another. I don't think that Saints either know or trust what this manager will do next.

We are without Richards which will mean one of Lerma, Clyne, Chilwell or Mitchell in the back three.

I'm going for 2-0 win to us though.

I should imagine they’ve given up worrying a long time ago, they’re just going through the motions now and planning for next season in the championship

Click bait suggesting Mitchell will play centre half with Chilwell as the LWB
I read that, but it would mean making another positional change with Guehi moving to the right of the back 3.

For balance I'd prefer Clyne to come in, where he did so well last season, and leave Guehi on the left of the back 3.
Why experiment if you don't need to just to give Chilwell a game?

3 games in a week. I would expect some squad rotation. Perhaps deveny and chill well in for Eze or sarr and Mitchell.

I heard Richards is injured too so clyne will most likely cover.

A disjointed performance I am expecting and to win by 1 goal.

I'm trusting the manager to ensure that the players are focussed and not looking at this game as a given three points.

With the away run that Palace are on, combined with Southamptons appalling form,it should be another three points. But I've supported this club long enough to know that with Palace it just doesn't work like that !

1-1

There is every chance we will lose 2-1
I have a sense of foreboding about this match.
A win for Southampton would give them 12 pts which would beat the lowest ever PL total of 11 pts by Derby under Paul Jewell.
Our record breaking away form must come to an end at some point and we have injuries and a suspension to face.
However, personally I feel a defeat against Southampton is not on the cards tonight.
Enjoy our fabulous successes ,the game tonight and most of all, think positively!!

Ha ha I look for your prediction posts each game. I’ve been on here a few years now and I’m still waiting for you to not feel doom and gloom. Keep it up Sir Willo and for the love of god don’t go predicting any good things for the semi and if we get there… the final.

With Southampton not playing for a while it is hard to speculate how they will perform. Ideally for us Hughes could have covered for Wharton or more likely Lerma ( who has been playing 2 games a week of late ) but he is suspended and Richards, who played very at Fulham will be a loss.
Still feel it will be a shock if we don't win. I am more inclined to play Mitchell in the back 3 and play Chillwell as left wing back. I think this gives us more going forward but less at the back. I think 3-1 to us could be the go. Eze is hitting form and Mateta will be back up to speed. Might also be time for Wharton to get on the score sheet.

Southampton will be sh1t, we just have to ensure we're slightly better.

I think the training regime at the club makes players very at ease with their role, so I'd see a square peg in a square hole solution for Richards' absence. Clyne, Lerma or Ward.

If we are that threadbare in midfield minus Lerma then Eze could drop in with Kamada/Franca/Nketiah/Esse starting.

So I think we'll be good selection wise but I fear it might be a tight game.
