To do list,
1) Extend/sign contracts for Kamada, Mateta, Lacroix, Henderson
2) Bring Johnson in to tell him that he thinks he can turn him into Mbapie
3) Plan on how to defend near post corners
4) Use his French contacts to bring in the best youngsters
5) Confirm that he's always been a Palace fan

What's he going to do in the afternoon?

Good points. We need a set piece coach. Glasner, as usual, was too stubborn to work with one. Parish needs a word about that.

Point 5 can be addressed in the club shop with a baseball cap. The last manager with a Palace baseball cap really seemed loyal to us.

Mitchell and Richards needs renewing also

Are 1) and 4) not in Hobbs in-tray, and nothing to do with Sage?
Probably .
It was a lighthearted post bearing in mind that Sage is due to start work next week.

When Pulis was introduced to the Palace squad on his first day his first question was supposedly to ask if any of them had a long throw.
I like that - pragmatic and straight to the point.

Delaney tells a story that when Allardyce selected his first teamsheet that he told the players if any were unhappy at not being selected they could leave.
Show them who's boss, and challenge them to be included in future selections I suppose.

Somewhere in Sage's in-tray is 'Ask Hobbs and Parish what the squad will be' and somewhere in Hobbs and Parish' in-tray is 'Ask the big clubs what our squad will be' followed somewhere far lower down by 'Tell Sage'.

If Sage is anything like me then he'll probably spend his first day setting up his email account and passwords, finding the toilet and kitchen, and being introduced to loads of people, none of whose name or job title he'll remember the next day.

When he gets home his wife will ask 'How was your first day?' and he'll say 'Fine, they all seem nice enough. Not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing, though...'
