Sadiq Khan

I think Khan is right on Heathrow, another revived UK banana skin.

Another bad decision, our politicians are drawn to these projects, the details of which are not considered in their vain quest for glory.

Will he defeat Reeves?

Like Boris, who walked away from it, I dont think it will happen anyway.

😎

When the history books are written Khan will have superhero status,London needs clean air and he took loads of dodgy old vehicles off the road. Several statues of him should be erected now.
Now I understand that this is a a parody account, or at least one with the purpose of provoking rwaction with absurd posts. No need to ignore as its comedy rather than debate.

Heathrow has no spare capacity on any given day so the slightest delay causes chaos. Meanwhile other hubs around Europe are growing. Every time I take a connecting flight these days it seems to be Istanbul which is a great airport. Dubai also appears to be being used more often as well.

It's very simple the current situation at Heathrow cannot continue we either create more capacity or accept that we will lose business to Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and others.

As our population is increasing we should accept the reality and get the 3rd runway done.

It would take likely a decade at least so it would have no impact on RFA's growth plan in the current Parliament

Have to wonder how much space Heathrow can find for parking aircraft, maintaining aircraft, terminals and flow of passengers through airport. It does have boundaries.

Wonderful. And nothing at all to do with people working from home or being unable to afford the cost of driving in low emission zones.
Wasn't there a controversial report (a few years back) that Khan tried to hide which stated that pollution levels had fallen but this was nothing to do with car emissions?

I'm glad that they have come down but is it because of ULEZ?

There was also the claim that TFL took the base level for emissions on the worst day of the year rather than an average. We all know that pollution is linked to the weather and that one day it can be really bad but the next is literally blown away.

Sorry to sound a Grinch but I am deeply suspicious of TFL and Khan so I wait for some an unbiased view to corroborate.

A pint of whatever you're drinking.
As for the history books, He'll probably be in a tie with Kier Stalin for the most hated, vilified crook in our time.

"Under the rules, the most polluting cars must normally pay a £12.50 charge each day they are driven inside the Ulez zone. A small minority of cars on the road are affected, with most petrol cars under 19 years old and diesel cars under nine years old exempt. The latest figures show 97% of vehicles in the capital are now compliant and do not pay anything."

So 3% of cars are non compliant, but paying £12.50. It will be interesting to see if the results continue to fall now most of the Non Compliant cars are off the road. Will the cameras come down or be turned off? Will they be used for other purposes i.e Pay per mile? Will they change the age threshold on non compliant cars? How will Khan tax the motorist next? Electric cars will have to pay the congestion charge from 25 December 2025. I thought they were clean energy? Where is all this money going? I guess part of it is to repair cameras that have had a paint or sticker job or fallen over in the strong winds.

Don't worry they are adding an extra runway to Gatwick by moving the standby runway 12m

"The £2.2 billion project is privately financed, requiring no taxpayer money - and is shovel ready. Our plans include moving the runway (currently used as a standby) 12 metres to allow London Gatwick, the UK's second busiest airport, to have a second fully functioning runway, paving the way to meet future demand for air travel."

'Third runway at Heathrow will wipe out the environmental beneits of ULEZ' - Khan.

Governments always want things but the UK has not delivered on infra-structure for many years.

Only one major project under-taken since 2010, HS2 the ongoing embarrassment nobody has the courage to pull the plug on.

Not sure this will happen. Previous proposals involved destroying ancient woodland and decimating a local village. How does this sit with Eddie’s net zero?

Well the o2 was slated as a white elephant and now clearly isn’t. If a country is to be progressive it needs to upgrade and build infrastructure. HS2 is expensive but in 15 years will be looked on as a great investment. Trouble is it’s a now now now society.

Our wonderful Mayor. I feel so much safer no we are on his watch.

Croydon gets a mention.

Drug offences are down or should that be police no longer arrest people for drug offences?
