Romaine Esse

In this mornings press conference Glasner said he wanted minimum an attacker in January of the similar profile of Sarr. As Sarr is the only player we have that runs beyond the back line, that I believe is part of Esse and Uche`s issue. In a previous conference Glasner told a story early in his career there was a midweek game and a big local derby at the weekend. Glasner decided to rest most of the first choice team midweek and they ended up losing both games. He decided then he would not repeat the same mistake.
That's an extremely small size to make a never-change decision. What's he going to say if we lose to United. He didn't make many changes - i would have liked him to have started Nketiah and given Sarr a rest. Wasn't the last moment when he and JPM were on the pitch together when Eddie set him up for the winner (which Mateta missed) against Bournemouth

Let’s see what he says now. Didn’t change and we lost both games from winning positions because we were knackered. Poor squad management in my view

Could be a good move for him, should he actually get Game time.
As I’ve said elsewhere if he goes on loan I fear that may be it in terms of us seeing him in a Palace shirt. Has all the makings of a summer transfer to a Championship club or newly promoted side. We don’t seem to send players on loan to develop them for the first team. Rather it seems to be to move them on. Hope I’m wrong but difficult to see him coming back into the first team squad if this happens and we sign other options. Puts him behind Pino, Deveney, Sarr, Johnson (if he signs), Uche and Nketiah. Long way back in from there

I believe the fee for Esse was £12 Mill rising to £14.5 Mill.
As it this juncture I cannot envisage us receiving such a fee from a sale.

Nor can I but I can see something like £6m to £8m and us taking that

A good move for him at the moment if he were to go out on loan to Coventry.

I still think he can be a good signing for us, just needs minutes and to learn some more, especially ball retention.

Seems like a good move for him. He's definitely got talent but he has to be getting more minutes than he is here in order to develop.

Getting into a side who is flying high will be a good challenge for him and I hope he does well. I still think he can offer us something in the future. He's only 20 so time is on his side but definitely needs regular competitive football at this stage of his development. I still think he should have had more time here in conference league and end of games etc but if that's not to be then a loan makes the most sense for him.

We'll also benefit from any improvements Lampard can make without having to employ him.

If he does a good job at Coventry then his value will likely be pretty much what we paid for him. He's young, he's on a long contract, and he's proven at Championship level, plus he's been trying to grow some serious sideburns. If it doesn't work out in the Midlands there will probably still be a queue of Championship clubs after him on loan next summer. Millwall fans said when we signed him that he had fantastic potential, but I remember many saying they didn't think he was ready for the PL. He's 20. He has time on his side.

We cannot afford to lose such an explosive talent from our squad which is too light already.

Really OG is too conservative and lacks ideas, he just couldn't hsndle him for some reason, if he is a pain so was Zaha.

We are not in danger with 27 points but looking more like a bottom half team each game to me.

😎

Absolutely bang on

The counter balance to this is that if Glasner isn't going to use him, he may as well go on loan. He looked to improve slightly recently and can perhaps improve more on loan.

It's ironic that we've been able to sign Johnson because he didn't fit into Frank's system.
Are managers so rigid in their plans that skilful players are surplus if they don't fit a way of playing? The days of playing to players' strengths are rapidly disappearing.
Alf Ramsey famously had no time for the so-called Maverick players but at there was a place for them at club level.

Even with Muñoz, Sarr, Richards, and Kamada back – and Brennan Johnson in? I'll grant you that 11th is bottom half, but I don't think our recent form is indicative of much beyond our missing players and lack of depth. I predict we'll finish 9th!

Like others have said, he still has time on his side, only 20, I dont think there's too many players in the league who play regularly at that age, I can only think of a handful who get minutes so he shouldn't be too disheartened, it's a good move for him and us.
