Bournemouth, are short of a striker, says their manager, only a starter can cover that. Esse, wouldn’t seem to fit, he isn’t an out and out striker, and not likely to start in that position , Bournemouth have plenty of cover in all other forward positions. Never say never ,it’s football, but probably just click bait.

He wasn't in the match day squad for Millwall yesterday in the FA Cup, before Bournemouth "interest" first showed itself. It's clear that it's almost over the line from us. Bournemouth rumours are probably just his agent trying to speed the deal up.

Edouard?

Could the delay be because we're trying to work out a deal using Schluppie in part exchange? He and Esse apparently have the same agents.

I don’t know anyone in ‘the know’, but common sense tells me things are very much in our favour.

As others have said, if it’s meant to be….it will happen…
I hope OG doesn't get fed up and walk out. He made it clear we needed at least 2, if TC goes back to Chelsea then we need 3...so far our business (from what's in the Media) has been awful. Hopefully SP gets a few over the line

Is it possible the extras Millwall are asking for are obscene and so the negotiations go on. I suspect it is about sell on fees and add one etc if the early talk of the deal almost complete are true. Hopefully it is concluded before the weekend. Would be a great lift before a very tough fixture away at West Ham

I imagine they feel much the same about losing him as we did over Olise so we can't really blame them for trying to get all they can out of the deal. Still, as much as we might want him there are limits to our largesse.

Palace triggered a release clause in Esse's contract so there shouldn't be any add ons.

I understand the release clause (£12m) doesn't come into effect until the Summer, hence Palace have bid over the odds to try and secure him in this window.
From that august publication, The South London Press ;

Indications are Esse’s release clause at The Den came into effect in the summer and Palace have swooped now for a higher fee to land the winger.

So not sure if they mean '' will come into effect '' ??

Who knows what's holding it up !

My guess is the player and agent can see what other offers are but he will leave this window. Looking like it could be transfer deadline day or however long it takes to negotiate wages etc with all of the interested clubs and decide what's best.

I reckon we’ll get him. A number of things in our favour.

I'm not so sure, I know they're our rivals but it benefits both clubs to have a good working relationship.
I think I agree with this.

Plus, arguably Palace is a more attractive offer. He gets to remain in South London and to a club that has a record of taking Championship players, bedding them into the first team and attracting 'bigger clubs'. It's also obvious that we need players in forward positions so he'd get into the 1st team squad immediately and probably a good amount of game time. If he backs himself and plays to his potential, he could be in the first team quickly. Essentially, there a route into regular Premier League minutes.

Bournemouth are flying at the moment, but they have cover in forward positions (as mentioned) and therefore, would he get much game time at the currently. Plus, is Bournemouth's current position a 1 season wonder (or even half season).

Dougie had been tracking him for a while and we know Ollie isn’t averse to having a phone chat with potential signings so I’d assume he’s been made aware we’re looking for someone who can fill the Olise role sooner rather than later. It’s the right option for the lad at this stage in his career. I can’t see any advantage in him going to Bournemouth.
If, as is suggested,Millwall are happy with the deal then it shouldn’t take forever to agree his salary.
If it doesn’t happen this week then I fear it’s not going to happen. My guess is it’ll be a Friday morning announcement. Fingers tightly crossed!!
