Romain Esse

The more it drags on the more i dont want him to sign at this stage . I think we missed a trick by not going for Doak instead . It all smacks of agent's wanting more and seeing who else comes in for him and if no one ese does we'll settle for Palace on Deadline day . If thats the case i hope they tell him and nillwall to do one .
We've met the release clause so Millwall cannot stop the deal going through. The player can of course try and stall in the hope a 'bigger' club comes in for him but if that happened why would Palace persue a player who's heart isn't in it? I'd imagine Palace will walk away if there is any hint that we are being used to flush out other interest.

Have we?

I saw somewhere that it doesn't come into effect until this coming Summer which is why we've offered over the odds for him to try and get him now.

If thats true then fair enough. I did read that we had met the release clause (which I'm sure it said was £14.5m). The terms of the deal are still Millwall's choice though. Similar to our own contract on Olise we had to accept if anyone came up with the money but we did not have to accept if they didn't offer nearly all of it up front. Think this was why the club were a bit wrong footed by Bayern. They called our bluff and paid it when Palace didn't really expect anyone to do that.

Bayern obviously knew a good deal when they saw it !

So far in tonight’s match it’s evident we need to get this over the line asap.

Desperately need something different even if it’s off the bench.
I think the idea of getting esse is to have some creative options in the last 30 minutes or so of a match when we need some flair. Of course he's supposed to be the long-term Eze replacement though.

No, he is not. Kamada is/was supposed to be Eze's replacement. Esse, although left footed, plays on the right & then cuts inside(ala Olise).

🤣🤣
And I will be mayor of London next year
but not before I've ridden all the BBC weather girls in one evening at The Ritz, paid for by the outgoing Khan.
That's a great bucket list and probably more realistic than Kamada replacing Eze .

Rumour has it that it's agent fees that are currently the sticking point

He hasn’t played or trained in almost a week it would seem. Poor lad must be itching to get going. Now it’s a game of nerve. Perhaps Bournemouth and Brentford are sniffing at the option to usurp us. Or this is his agent bluffing to get the full fee he wants. What a mess transfers are when working to a tight budget
