Reform

People are starting to see what they voted in now. It's kind of the current issue. I haven't heard anyone say anything positive about Starmer and most of my family are lifelong Labour supporters. A couple were high in Trade Unions. I was always Labour myself, until Blair and a local MP let down (closed the hospital) and have been more or less disenfranchised ever since. I won't vote for people just for not being Tory. And I won't vote for namby pamby Liberal whig whatever they are now. I'd vote Reform (and will have a vote) just to shake up the system however. A lot will do that. The Status Quo has f***ed us over worse than Midge Ure was done over by Geldof.

Midge, didn't care though....it meant nothing to him....oh it meant nothing to him.

It doesn't work, since the 1980's it has never worked.

So why do voters yearn for more? And the current labour government has not really departed from the model

Not defending our politicians, but Norway has a population of 5.25 million. That is about twice the size of Birmingham.

Not a good comparison is it.

20 k is probably an aspiration but even if they could take it to 14-15k it’s about
£ 60 a month in the pocket. That will pay for fuel or extra food for many. Obviously with you on 130 k a year laughing at this proposal is your MO.

It’s not the proposal itself I’m laughing at - I’d be all for raising it if it’s affordable. It’s the nonsense maths that’s gone in to how they would pay for it which is laughable.

It’s an aspiration danh. If it was 20 quid a month, the items which could get some money back in the system have been listed by reform. If you feel all of that 100 odd billion is money well spent then good for you. Personally I think a large amount could be reduced by a few billion.
Maybe they should increase Ni, cancel the WFA, or tax farmers properties more to raise the cash… oh hang on !

They’re not saying it’s an aspiration, they’re saying it’s their policy!

If they’re serious about being taken seriously and a credible potential future government they have to make sure their sums add up.

Really, are you sure that if reform said that they were a bit OTT but we are at 16k for example, workers would be disappointed.
Labour have done so much s*** they never promised in their manifesto how can you, one of the very people who put them in power question a party trying to give something back. As I said if you are a mega earner you can criticise all you like but to many a few quid makes a huge difference and more so with your bestie and his court f***ing it up for most people.

That £60 still has to come from somewhere and all the lost £60s add up to a lot. It’s easy to promise cuts but cutting programmes that are essential to our future and others that are essential to the survival of others is completely irresponsible political populist garbage.

It resonates of Trump’s approach and the last thing we should be doing is imitate him. As soon as the bulk of the British voting public make that connection the reality of voting Reform will sink in. Change to something new and untried appeals to many at first. When they realise it isn’t new or untried but mimicks the US disaster then enough will swiftly reject it. Their votes are up for grabs. Who captures them depends on who is straight with the voters.

If you didn’t watch this evening’s Panorama I suggest you do so before posting any more on this subject.

Of course.

Even the most blinkered anti BBC critic could not argue with the analysis of the several experts that were interviewed.

We face a crisis that silly populist promises will inevitably make much worse. It needs to be discussed honestly.
So discuss it honestly then. Without your TDS or anti reform bias. Even the most ‘far’ right (your words) see things which do not add up. You though do not if it doesn’t suit your agenda!!!
