Reform

Seems to be upsetting quite a few people currently. But the giveaways just before the next election may ease the pain. I genuinely wonder will there be a coalition just to keep Reform out? The funniest possibility I can think of is a Labour/ Tory coalition. It would have sounded completely impossible but I think it's within the realms of plausibility these days.
It’s definitely plausible, with the LibDems joining too, if needed.

It would send a few of the Tory right across the aisle to the badlands whilst enabling them to reestablish credibility as a party who puts the national interest above self interest.

Not that the hard right band of brothers here will either agree or really comprehend why.

Hard right now instead of far right.
You really need to consider what you write as that is actually a f***ing insult.

There has been a Labour/Tory coalition in all but name for years - what have been their major policy differences?

Nah real blind faith was by the labour voters last year. That’s going well !!!

The last 6 months of relative calm compared to the last few years of utter chaos and nonsense under the Tories have been very refreshing.

But his sums will probably actually add up. If the cuts he proposes happen. Lily livered wokies will put up resistance but farage and reform must have some inside info on the current finances. What if he is in a position to deliver what he claims. Are you coming over willo ?
So far Farage has not said when these tax cuts will happen. The assumption in the media is that it will all be at once. My guess is that as we near the election Farage will qualify them e.g. when we can afford it.

There really was an air of unreality about the proposals announced by Farage in his speech.
Many of the figures are 'broad brush' and can only be made to add up through a fog of cigarette smoke amid the sound of mirth and merriment.

There is an air of unreality about most of any political party's proposals, but sooner of later reality sets in.

Is there not money to be saved by stopping the net zero nonsense beloved by Boris and his freeloading father.

Energy bill would reduce as well.

Has to be many billions.......

The Conservatives problem is that they simply lost credibility over 14 years of mostly mismanagement.

All things come to an end eventually, the Conservatives peaked with Lady T and pretty much downhill after her.

It is this disreputable Labour government that has caused "Utter chaos" with the economy and beyond.
Such "Relative calm" !!👎🙁

What is this ‘utter chaos’ they have caused Willo, dear boy?

In the manifesto it was announced the tax bill would rise by £8.5 Bill. In that budget the tax hike was £40 Bill.
It was announced that borrowing would increase by £3.5 Bill, the budget revealed borrowing at £36 Bill.
The UK had the largest growth in the G7 leading up to the election, at present it is practically 'Sweet Fanny Adams'.
Increase in NI which has impacted businesses.
Rising inflation.
Farmers, Chagos, Winter fuel payments, the dastardly 'Reset' with the EU.
India deal permitting tax breaks for workers from that country.
ETC ETC

Conservatives had issues and lost the trust of the electorate but Starmer & Co have really run into 'Pitchy Seas' glug glug glug. 👎

Whilst it’s reassuring to see a traditional Tory not being conned by the populist nonsense of Reform it’s also disappointing to see them joining in with the equally nonsensical Labour pile ons.

Any government in the UK in 2025 would face exactly the same situation and would be forced into taking decisions they knew the electorate wouldn’t like. Criticism in these circumstances is cheap and easy. There are no easy solutions or magic wands. Right now the easiest way to become unpopular is to actually have responsibility. The easiest way to gain responsibility is not to have any.
