Reform

Wouldn't they form a coalition? I would suspect Reform would be the senior party. But there is still time for things to happen. Labour need a Falklands style miracle - which I personally find a little worrying.
Thing is with this, back in '82 the amount of reservists that volunteered was unprecedented, even before they were officially called up, i, too, was among them. Now, fast forward 40 years the Armed Forces have shrunk to under half of what it was, most of the Navy is in the Gulf, the Army is now made up of primarily reserves & the RAF are so short of equipment a few badly needed squadrons would be non-operational.

When i go to reunions etc & Vets gatherings, there are present a lot of serving personnel & reservists, the the impression we get, is that not many of them would want to apply themselves for this current Govt, they swore an allegiance to the Monarch & the Country, NOT politicians, tho they are the one's who start/join wars but, never finish them & NEVER join the front line.

Labour need a miracle alright, but, not at the expense of the depleted Armed Forces.

I agree, but it doesn't mean Labour won't try it.

That would please me a squabble in the making .👍 👍 👍

There are local elections in May and there are those who believe that a disappointing result for Conservatives could seal the fate of Badenoch.
There are those who also believe that Reform is deserving of their vote in May. I thought I would inform the great and good that one Reform council leader declared that taxes could be cut without a single service reduction. Total hogwash. Anyone who has wrestled with a £ billion county budget knows it is pure fantasy.

Protest politics is simple, it costs nothing to spout slogans. But it doesn’t pay for care placements, fix potholes, or balance the books etc etc etc. On the day-to-day frontline of local government, Reform’s rhetoric looks not just lightweight but laughable.

You're kind of talking about the country as if this was 1996 or something.

It's not about how efficient the council is.....balancing the books.....'pass the sugar vicar' has gone for a burton...You must be insulated from it all.

Smell the coffee sir.

People won't be voting Reform because of taxes or service reductions.....This isn't about 'line go up'.

The Tories are like oil tankers, they won't get it until they crash into the port.

The base voted in Badenoch.....I wouldn't be surprised if the next one is even worse.

My comments were to highlight Reform's fantasy economics and were relevant to the council elections in May.
They flit from headline to headline with no deep-down analysis of the problems and underlying causes.

Bit like the Tories in 2010, same as LieBore in 2025. Going by your recent posts, the Tories are running scared of Reform. You may think you're ready in '29, but people don't forget. They will sling the govt out & say they need a time as opposition, it'll be an awful long time before the Tories come back.

Q? In your recent meetings etc, have you shown this thread to them, so they can see what ordinary people are thinking, saying? Might be an eye-opener for them, don't you think?

We are exposing them for what they are, a mirage NOT an oasis.
After such a defeat we are acutely aware of the challenges we face, we have a mountain to climb but we have left base camp and have the steely determination to renew our party.

Finally, I do not need to steer my fellow Conservatives to this thread, they are fully cognisant of the public mood and the 'Mood Music' which they accept is not favourable to us at this juncture.

Is there a point at which you would just accept the Tories are finished? Do you honestly believe it can be turned around?
