A player who was crap for Arsenal (0 goals in 17 PL appearances) when he was a year younger, training alone at Chelsea, on an obscene wage and probably suffering trauma from two home invasions. Not a lot going for it
overall i am anti Sterling but there is some logic if we went for him on loan.
He's 31 in Dec and has barely played for the last 2 or 3 years and his loan at Arsenal was very underwhelming. He is clearly a player in decline after almost 15 years as a professional. He is one of the top earners in the Prem at c£300k a week. Does he still have the drive and enthusiasm?
However, supposedly Arsenal 'only' paid £100k of his salary a week and we know this is affordable for us.
We need someone ASAP the moment the window opens.
He can play anywhere across the front 3 so that will help if we are still in the cups. Clearly we need a Sarr replacement and there are limited options.
Based on the Chilwell loan last year - took a while to get up to speed, was ok but no better than what we had, a lot of money for a bit part player etc i'm thinking Sterling will be similar. However, the getting him in on 1st Jan does make him an definite option.
On Thursday we took both Pino and Sarr off and replaced them with Devenny and Kamada - neither has any speed or ability to beat a man. Immediately our attacking threat disappeared. We can't go into January with these 2 as the only options
