Conceding 11 goals in 4 league games is relegation form. You cannot expect to win many if you are shipping those sort of numbers.

Whatever work is being done on the training field needs to take this into account. A solid, difficult team to beat starts with a solid defence.

We gave away stupid goals yet again yesterday and I question what Disasi was even doing in that part of the pitch when he committed that red card (which it was) offence.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments.
A complete and utter shambles yesterday and I left the ground in a frightful bate.
I was on my 'Soapbox' in a local Public House last night, with vilification very much in evidence.
What a thoroughly horrible afternoon.

Sending off turned the game. We looked much more defensively solid until then.

We then controlled the game in the 2nd half, and did really well to pull one back. At that point it felt like we'd be the one to win it.

Felt like we missed a bit of pace up top. Nketiah or Sarr would have really helped stretch things.

I agree Mr Robbo. I would like to see them both back in the side. We were dreadfully unlucky yesterday to lose yesterday. Gutting unlucky goal to concede in the 90th minute. That said, Mitchell had the worst game I have ever seen him play as did Wharton. At least we have three points on the board and the season is not lost just yet. We can still turn this around with clever tactics and man management. Sage deserves a chance for ten games, in total, to turn this around. Otherwise I would ask Howe to take over. It would also be helpful for two of our best players to stop sulking and contribute.

94 games 54 for lyons 40 Lens got both teams to cup finals , pulled Lyons out of relegation , got Lens to 2nd place and won a cup , thats not one good season thats 2 , you would be saying why cant we get him to us to replace glasner , but you didnt spot him like most of us , so your on shaky ground there , he does change formation can see us going 433 , he will turn this round 👍🏻

What are you talking about, the formation is rubbish the same as Glasners, that is why we are so bad, 90% of the players we buy have never played that system, he will not change to back 4, end of, he is way out of his depth, I see loss after loss until a manager who can manage a squad by its strengths and not by a predetermined system before he has seen the players in training.

I've just rewatched the highlights.
Four unchallenged headers in the box led to the three goals.
We looked porous against one of the poorer teams in the league and our goals conceded tally in the Prenier League tells it's own story.
I refuse to see a silk purse where there is a sow's ear.
You can't win many games when you're conceding at least 2 goals per game and the sooner that reality is dealt with the better.
Enough of.. 'if we had 11 men', 'if Khalaili had made it 3-2'.
It's equally valid to say 'if Clarke had made it 3-1 to Ipswich' when he missed an easy chance.
It's not bad luck that we're conceding goals, it's bad play.

The defence is absolutely woeful. All standing there looking at one another. I thought Richards was ok back in his better position but see others would disagree. The lad Honest looked comfortable to me first half but in the second when he was on my side I wasn't so sure. He lost his man on one of the first half goals. Disasi is showing signs of living up to his reputation but you may as well play him Thursday, cos he's on a ban for Leeds at least - give somebody a rest.
The point is it's Sage and his teams job to sort this out.I've got a bad feeling about him, but yes he needs time. Making Wharton captain was plain stupid. Yes there are no obvious candidates which is maybe part of the problem and why normally we are reduced to a goalkeeping captain. I'd have gone Richards from the starting 11, but accept that is not ideal.

Any blame on Sage is pretty ridiculous. We were well on top before the sending off. Disasi was an idiot before we signed him and nothing has changed.

In other news, Timber was class yesterday.

And JSL, wore the badge with pride, anyone showing that fight gets my blessing, oh and a very well taken goal.

On another day, we win that game comfortably.

Our next 3 PL games are against Leeds, Nottm Forest and Brighton.
One can speculate as to whether Sage will be afforded the luxury of still being at the helm after these matches, if indeed he is not jettisoned beforehand.
It does seem bizarre to consider a parting of the ways after 4 PL games, however the portents are not encouraging with some of our players from recent seasons not playing to their capabilities and with a defence with more holes than 'Swiss cheese'.

I don’t think it’s particularly important that Wharton was made captain however he and Mitchell had terrible games. And we still nearly won the game with ten men for 2/3 of the game. I was so gutted yesterday that I just went straight to bed. 11 hrs sleep and I feel great this morning and more optimistic about life.

If he doesn't manage to stem the flow of goals in the next few matches there can only be one outcome.
In the final analysis Sage has relatively limited experience in the 'Top seat', a fact I highlighted on HOL when he was appointed.
Of course it is in all our interests that he is a success at our club, however I had a sense of foreboding even before the start of the 'Friendlies' and there has been precious little reason for me to alter my thinking.

This game basically turned on the sending off of Disasi. With 11 men, we would have won. Or a draw at the very least. That said, shipping 11 goals in 4 games is relegation fodder. We seriously need to address this and perhaps look to grind out a few clean sheets even at the expense of creating a few more chances. It’s all very well playing a high press and total football but this is the Premier league and you need Man City type players to make that work and we only have Henderson (injured), Wharton (out of form), Sarr (on strike), so little wonder that we are struggling. I also think that Martinez should have done better than to watch the ball hit the crossbar for their third goal.

At least we have a game midweek to try to reset and regather some formation, tactics and a clear idea of how we play moving forward. I personally think we should play a 4 3 3 formation.

It's one of the systems he used at lyon and switched it about at Lens , so dont be surprised if he does change formation , with timber showing some good to , switched to 433 could well be what he will do , you dont know what one's work in training , its in real time you get a better picture 👍🏻

Im worried that our defence looks weak. But I am more worried that Wharton one of our best players has looked like our worst player in all our games.

At least maybe we can have our best defender Tomiyaso play, if his knees allows him to play 3 games a week.

Wharton looks like he's been given specific instructions (CDM?) and almost looks like he's playing out of position - Needs to be playing alongside specific holding midfielder to give him some freedom.

Everything we see is a display of the manager's tactics and the player's comprehension of them. It can't be otherwise. These are players used to playing at a relatively high level and so the confusion and chaos we see must be down to a confused set of instructions and tactical organisation from the manager.
