Everything we see is a display of the manager's tactics and the player's comprehension of them. It can't be otherwise. These are players used to playing at a relatively high level and so the confusion and chaos we see must be down to a confused set of instructions and tactical organisation from the manager.

He may sit them down and ask them what they think. That’s good management and could help him. No one knows everything and early season is when any manager sees what his players can do. There are 34 games to go so baby and bath water etc.

Neither should be paid. Both should be sued.

It's the Adebayor fiasco all over again, all the trouble makers muttering in French how bad & unfair it all is, everyone has to listen to this in the canteen, the changing room & eventually it starts pissing everyone off, it's a similar reason why Warnock didn't like injured players in the dressing room.

I think Sage trying his best to be a disciplinarian early on is him trying to wrestle control away from the rot & struggling to do so.

If this is the case then it seems appropriate that the leader in the group stand up and say, "We don't think it's working, we're too open and teams have cut through us with ease and we need to work on that".

Pathetic goals to concede, the first Emersonn totally unmarked , for the second Ipswich got their head to the ball TWICE and Khalaili never covered himself in glory at the far post.
One can highlight the fact that we had players missing,Mateta, Sarr, Nketiah etc but these are not defenders.
Lech Poznan are 2nd in the Polish League and have won 5 of their 7 league games, if we defend as abjectly as we did against Ipswich we will suffer yet another defeat and Sage will face further scrutiny.

Selling Munoz was such a mistake. Lots of people saying getting £20m for a 30 year old was good but it took out one of our better players who can head the ball and was a fighter to replace him with a youngster who has been exposed defensively so far

In the post match interview, Sage specifically mentioned the failure to stop crosses and the failure to win headers from the resultant crosses.
He can see the issues as clearly as the rest of us ( which of course he should do as manager).

The critical point now is how he manages to address the issues through use of personnel and tactical organisation.

I know little of Lech Poznan, but I do know about our next League opponents in Leeds.
We can expect a barrage of long throws, crosses and set pieces together with pace down the sides.
If we are not fully prepared after last season's game there it will be inexcusable.

When he bought on a CD and took Pino off, in that second you know he is another one trick pony, he should have made a double substitution, bought on McNeil and Mingueza, and taken off Wharton and Khalaili off, it was obvious,

I think it’s almost certain that we will lose at Leeds. As it was certain that there with be over 2.5 goals yesterday.

I think the Leeds game becomes very important for Sage now. Not so much the result as the performance. If it is tight game where we show defensive confidence and fight then ok. Even if we lose by the odd goal. If it is another defensive sh*t show and we ship another three then Sage is showing he can’t get it right at this level.

We need to see a big reaction and change from coach and players. Will we? I seriously have my doubts

That is a win rate of 40% whether you like it or not and if we play like we have done over the first five games, I see the following results, which isn't too disheartening considering the sheer strength of each team.

First Mid Season 3-Week Break (Sep 20th to Oct 11th)

Unfortunately, the list above takes us up until Halloween which is frighteningly scary knowing we have to fit 9 competitive games in the next 7 weeks, which includes a 3 week early season break. As someone ITK correctly mentioned yesterday (due to their inside knowledge's) we are due to play these 9 games over a combined 28 day period, meaning we will play on average every 72 hours, including a daunting transcontinental trip to Turkey to face the current Turkish Champions and all-round powerhouses, where frankly we will get thumped.

But we need to get straight back on the plane after the game in order to get back in time to face a rejuvenated, Champions League chasing Newcastle FC just over 48 hours after our game in Istanbul finishes.

We do have squad depth to compete if we pick up injuries along the way, which is almost inevitable considering the schedule.

But I see no reason why we cannot complete the most gruelling period of games we have ever faced in such little time without a few wins.

I don’t think you can compare playing Boro’s second team in a competition they don’t care about to Premier League results.

You have to look at each competition on its own merits. In the Premier League we have a loss percentage of 75% and have conceded 2.75 goals a game. We have a goal difference of -5. Those are all relegation stats if it carries on

Yes I agree with you.

We did leave space down the sides under Glasner with him reasoning that Guehi, Richards and Lacroix would deal with the crosses - and to be fair they usually did with little space left for opposing forwards In the penalty area.
We are now looking at a very different kettle of fish with big gaps appearing and free headers resulting.
