I’m not sure we’ll sign a midfielder and as for a striker, I’d have Uche back, reached cult hero status in a short space of time and I think showed flashes of what he could do given a decent run

Saw on Sky's Transfer Talk earlier that Aston Villa had approached us regarding their interest in JPM. Didn't say whether its a loan deal.
As he is out of contract at the end of the season I can' see us agreeing to this.

Is it fair to say we're not unhappy with our signings - they seem fine. However, we haven't addressed the clearly obvious things we needed to address? What bothers me is I don't think we will bring in any more.

We have to sell Mateta don't care who too cant have someone like him hanging around and with his contract running down got to get some cash for him.
If we make the mistake of holding on thinking we can do a deal in Jan we will look like idiots he will sign for a foreign club on a free then.
If rumors are true Newcastle are willing to take him and we get Woltemade I would take that deal but not sure about the other one Jonathan David hes not worth same value but it's better then having Mateta hang around and go for 0

Unless there is an amazing deal, Mateta shouldn't be going anywhere.
This is the one issue that will cause Woody Johnson to go ballistic and have a direct call with Steve as Woody has had to deal with this with his NFL team. Players acting up to get transferred/traded does nothing but encourage future players to the same routine to get their way out of club and into one where they think is a better situation.
The only time I've seen it be successful for the club to trade a malcontent for peanuts was when the player got sent to the worst team they could fine. That sends the message that the club isn't playing around and will do anything in its power to remove the problem.

The major problem is when a manager comes in with predefined tactics before he has trained with the players, it is to specific and expensive for inflexibility, we don't have to play with 3 CBs, WBs, 2 number 10s, 4-5-1, 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1,is more flexible, its getting the best out of what you have, 29 players in our squad, manage your players, its not rocket science, does anybody seriously think our first choice Iraola would play so strict a set up, we don't need any more average players, we have enough of them.

I heard he didn't want the Southampton move. Again, could just be rubbish. Maybe he didn't want Leeds either. Perhaps he's very local?

Out of the young players we are now releasing/loaning/ selling, if I had to bet on one to succeed it would be Imray.
He looks very capable.
He's a good athlete, uses the ball well and provides real drive down the right; he's had a very good stsrt at Wrexham.
Some have opined he's not great defensively and that's why Palace have let him go, but I have no idea if that has substance.

The reason we let Imray go was there were three players in the squad who were considered better in his position. That rises to four if we keep Munoz.
I wish him well and I hope he goes on to have a successful career. However, I will continue to pose the question would we be happy to have signed a 23 year old with one half season of Championship football as his high point so far. I doubt it.
