Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

it's amazing how opinions differ.

Clearly not a 1st choice, as i've already mentioned, but a decent squad player IMHO.

Can't do any worse than £35m Johnson as a sub, and his assist and goal record is clearly better. Not a big scorer (usually played on the wings anyway) but usually important ones.

Incidentally, remember the 94th minute winner v Leicester on Roy's return? Created out of nothing by a certain Jordan Ayew. People often forget these moments and just remember Mateta scoring.

As a free on limited wages it's a no brainer IMHO. We will not be buying Wilson or Bowen (even if we could convince them to come to us) as we've just spend £85m in January (plus c£200k a week on wages).

Unless there is a big player sell i think 2 or 3 smaller incomings will be our summer transfer window.
Maybe Sage knows some hidden gems lurking en France.

This indicates that Clyne's contract will not be renewed.
It's not a surprise, but he has been a good player for the club from his days as an emerging youngster through to returning as a veteran squad player.
Well done to him.

Brilliant servant for Palace but we need to move on

Yes Nat Clyne has been a great servant, but at 35 probably best all round.

His playing time has been very limited and the wing back role, if we continue to play it, is not his ideal position.

It's thanks and goodbye

But club can still support him if he can't go elsewhere. He has served Palace superbly and would make for a wonderful ambassadorial role e.g. school promotional visits for the club.

Are they any of the first team players who have undertaken such a responsibility previously?

Alright, I'm gonna come out and whinge.

I really appreciate the way Palace conduct their transfers these days, i.e. incredibly secretively, very professional, like a special division of the illustrious British Secret Service but...

It means the off season is boring as hell! No rumours, not even a snifter! Just the odd, incredibly tenuous link that doesn't even come close to materialising.

What else am I supposed to do with my pathetic, mundane life?

Same as the rest of us. Work hard, pay your taxes and moan about the shiftless.

Back on topic I am not concerned I doubt much business will be done whilst the WC is still on. Hopefully contact has been made and negotiations are underway. Most clubs staff will be on holiday probably until the end of next week.

Now on that point I get giving the players the time off in the summer plus many other non playing staff. However I really hope that the recruitment team are told they can only go on holiday once the transfer window slams shut. This should be their "run up to Christmas" so no holidays.

My thoughts about this window are, hold what you have.

I'm not sure we have a big transfer budget or room to manoeuvre with the PSR or whatever they call it.

Hopefully the noise about Wharton and LeCroix is dying down.

My guess is unless we have to sell we will be only looking for a midfielder and then replacing any outgoings. I would be fine with that.

Re our budget, I doubt we will see more than a couple of minor signings, in PL terms, either players from the Championship or equivalent level/quality in France or Spain.

We lose one a window and this will be the one.

£120m (??) is too much to turn down.

We have proven we can sustain that.

Agree. And with the Kamada resign, and free transfer CB thats a pretty good start.

I do think we need to sign another wide forward (to replace Gussand). And would love us to sign a young CM (next seasons Kamada replacement)

That being said, we need to be pragmatic about JMP and Munoz.

Is it confirmed we are not signing Guessand? I may have missed it but was still half expecting it to be announced.

I think we should sign him personally. Was a bit inconsistent but definitely a palace style player and one who can make a difference.

If it’s around 20m I would take him. Impact player and would be useful with so many fixtures this season. Knows the Club and players and seems to get the whole Palace thing.

Well we didn't trigger the buy out, but I suppose we still might go for him.

I didn't love him, but would be happy with him as 1 of the 4 wide men.

Totally agree - unless maybe Ozoh can step up.

If we keep Wharton it will only be for 1 more season, so all 4 CMs will be gone this time next year (Kamada, Lerma and Hughes, the latter two struggle big time 2nd half of last season).

Even if Ozoh can step up (which I think he can), we will still need a new CM this window IMO. As you rightly point out, both Hughes and Lerma struggled big time in the 2nd half of last season. I can see Lerma becoming a viable CB bench option for 27/28 season if he stays but will the club retain Hughes for 27/28? As for Devenny, he's a useful bench option but he doesn't look to me like a PL regular, but let's see what Sage can make of him, assuming Devenny isn't sold or loaned out.

We need a new CM this window and probably another one next Summer when I expect Wharton to leave unless someone pays silly money for him now, in which case we will need to replace him with someone who can hit the ground running.

The return of Doucoure.
The old footballing cliche’ of ‘he’d be like a new signing’ could not be more apt if we could get the duc back to the form and obviously fitness he showed for that one season, that in form Doucoure was at the time the best midfielder we’d had for years

If Ozoh is an option this year and Doucoure can get back to fitness and more importantly sharpness (unfortunately, i have my doubts) then we have 6 for CM this season, which i think should be fine.

However, of the 6

Wharton - could be sold any time, especially as the CM seems to have a number of big transfers. I can see maybe Newcastle and Forest making a big bid as we approach the season. Hopefully, we can keep him for 1 more season
Kamada - ok and much improved. Looks better with Wharton and sometimes struggles with any other CM combo
Lerma - looked ok in WC but easily turned a few times and then always fouled. His lack of pace is now a bit of an issue. Zero creativity too. As an occasional CB he rarely lets us down
Hughes - we all love Hughes but his silly bookings really are an issue. If he gets booked 1st half he usually gets taken off at half time or just afterwards. Never had an pace but as he gets older it's more obvious.
Ozoh - still young and learning his trade. I think he suits a 6 in a 433 rather than our 3421 as he lacks a little mobility. Hopefully he'll get minutes in pre-season so lets see if he takes his chance. Alternatively, i think a £5m sale to a champ club is very possible.
Doucoure - what can we expect after so long out? When he came back from the achilles he looked like he'd bulked up in the gym which made him slow and cumbersome. He's now been out for the last year.
Hopefully he will be slowly introduced like Riad.

So of the 6 if Wharton and Kamada are not the two starting i'm a little uncomfortable
