Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

Marinakis sailed his trawler across the Brighton seafront
And amidst all the intrigue
That old wily bird never said a word
And landed up in the Conference League.

Apologies, I couldn’t find anything to rhyme with seafront!

If we have a strong case, and i honestly don't know if we have, sue UEFA, take it to the court of arbitration, that will screw the whole Europa league up, only Parish's Lawyers know if we have a good case, if kicked out, UEFA wont like that.

I know I am going to sing this at dinner time by accident and have a story to tell that will be met with "ok...."

I sympathise, most of my dinner chat is generally met with a frustrated whimper from the mrs. But I guess that's just her whimper way, her whimper way, her whimper way...

I really apologise. Even as I was writing that I knew it was dreadful.

They are UEFA rules and it looks like they have not been satisfied by our case.

We can argue about the merits of that, but UEFA set the yardstick of what constitutes a breach and I don’t see how an appeal court can rule against their interpretation, unless Palace can establish that a precedent has been previously set where two clubs in a similar situation were permitted to compete in the same European competition.
This looks unlikely though.

I don’t like how UEFA operate, but that’s immaterial here.
I could see UEFA trying a plea bargain approach where they offer a Conference place if we don’t appeal.
If we do appeal , this offer is withdrawn .
Mere speculation on my part , but if it does happen I hope we refuse.
Personally, I don’t want us to be in the Conference just for the sake of competing in Europe.
I’d prefer to expend our efforts in the league and cups and push forward in those without the millstone of a Micky Mouse competition that nobody takes too seriously.

It looks to me that UEFA will not permit Lyon and Palace to both play in the Europa League because of the so called 'breach' of the rules.

Thus our only route to being included was Lyon's relegation and non participation in Europe, which would have left us free to participate as there would be no conflict with Lyon's involvement.

Lyon's successful appeal and likely inclusion in the Europa cuts off Palace's route.

UEFA do not appear to have accepted Palace's arguments or our inclusion would already have been confirmed and the delay in the decision looks to be linked to the outcome of Lyon's appeal.
No I think UEFA were waiting for the Ligue 1 decision only because it might have given them an easy way out of the mess. It hasn’t though and so they are going to have to make an actual decision. Could go either way depending on who UEFA think has got the toughest lawyers (or deepest pockets!) - Parish or Forest.

Based on nothing I wouldn't be surprised if UEFA DON'T think we have broken any rules and have been convinced by now that we're ok, but are wary that they can't give a watertight rejection to Forest's claim.

Yeah, f***'em we don't want to be in Europe anyway.

Id argue what the rules say are terribly unclear and its a grey area. If it was a simple shared ownership we'd be out already.
