Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

If this be the case… then surely it’s insurmountable for Lyon. 200m required to be ‘actively available within the club’s accounts’ with 50% of that needed in 7 days.
didn't Textor just get £190 mil from the sale of his shares to Johnson? And there's money from the sales of players to Rottingham Forest. Don't know about clearance time though.

I don’t pretend to know how these financial issues actually work. Some say Textor, can’t just plug the hole for Lyon, if so no problem. I just wonder, if Textor, can use his £190 mill in that way, surely Palace would never have wanted him to sell up as it would aid Lyon’s case. Many believe it was done to make a case for Palace. So what’s the truth I wonder.

A basic and obvious point is that Textor is not going to give that money to Lyon. How were they in so much trouble? It was hardly because he was throwing money at them.
ARES are now the ones to worry about, for Textor and for us. They are tens of billions and invested in sports all over the continent.

So Lyon can rush to prove they have €100 million in the bank in 7 days whilst they’re currently €500 million in debt? Lads, relegation should be your reality check. Take the hit and start restructuring instead of keeping up a financial juggling act which will inevitably lead to more debt.

I think most of that 190m has gone to Ares to pay off part of a loan they gave to Eagle so it's unlikely he will be bailing Lyon out in the short term.

I've just found this article dated 9 May. Re: Chelsea and Strasburg. Although they had been talking with UEFA since January about prospective MCO violations. Chelsea hadn't actually done anything by this date. It looks like they were waiting to see if they qualified first before taking any action. How is this ok for them and not for us?

There are loads like that. Man U/ The Red Bull sides/ Chelsea and more. They were all fine despite being heavily linked with each other - much more than we were. The whole thing stinks.

That was my take. One, will the bank transfer not have to wait completion of the sale to Johnson? And two, when in funds, what stops Tex from trousering the lot?

Nothing stopping him. He has 0 obligation to give Lyon more money. He’s built up this debt but due to the fact he’s only a shareholder of Eagle Holding, he has no personal responsibility to pay it off. F*ck billionaires. Also there is not a chance in hell he’d have received the £190m in one full lump sum from Johnson. So even if he wanted to fund Lyon for some bizarre personal reason, he can’t. The DNCG know this. Lyon also won’t be able to rush through with transfer sales to raise the funds as no transfers are paid in full and upfront. Will always be instalments.

Imagine if Woody Johnson stumped the money up just to send this thread to 300 pages.

Brondby have a higher coefficient than us. As far as I'm aware, we won't replace them - we won't be eligible.
The rule that sorts out the order of precedence regarding Palace/Lyon/Brondby has been posted on a number of occasions in this thread, but it is clearly set out in post 29 on page 2 under section 5.02.

Initially we were concerned with the situation regarding Palace v Lyon, and indeed this is still the main concern. Before the possible issue of Lyon being relegated from Ligue 1 came up, if there was a genuine conflict between Palace and Lyon under 5.01 then the issue was that Lyon would have priority under 5.02 section 2.

Then we started looking at going into the conference. In Palace v Brondby, the rule is the one given in section 5.02 section 1.

Under this Palace have priority because we qualified for the Europa League, Brondby qualified for the Conference.

However I think a lot of us were still focused on section 2, and this was reinforced by the clickbait article that said we would miss out on Europe entirely, and that Brighton would take our place.

I also think that many of us were unaware about Blitzer’s interest in Brondby.

However, the lack of clarity of the whole rule, and the ability of it to stand up in a court of law remains the main issue. Both Palace and Brondby need to work together to get a satisfactory result (which could also benefit Lyon.)
