Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

I suppose at least if we do drop down we’ll have more chance of actually winning it
The Conference is a waste of time and resources. I'd rather be out completely.

We have a chance of winning the Europa League and that would be a great achievement. The Conference is Mickey Mouse.
I don't actually think that Lyon will win their appeal but if UEFA wished to apply the rules to the letter, it wouldn't make any difference as we did not have our house in order in March. They could have chucked us out already.
The fact that they have delayed means nothing other than the fact that they want the whole process to be completed before they announce their decision.
Going early would look like they are undermining the Lyon appeal and the ratification of Johnson's suitability by the Premier League. We would have fulfilled our obligation by the spirit of the rules when Johnson is official and Lyon will either be in or out. Both teams could compete.

That's just how I see it. I have no inside information.

Do you think they prefer the Notts Forest type of owner who runs on the pitch and abuses the manager whilst his shares are supposedly in blind trust and he has no official control of his business?

By all means punish Textor by barring him from holding a directors position in UEFA football, however this is an attack on a team that is unwarranted.
An attack on what team?

haven't seen anything from uefa saying we sent out all changes to rules and covering for all issues that are covered under rule changes for ever club , if they haven't then they have failed to issue a clear and workable rule , and lets look at the saga because uefa haven't and don't care ,
they could have sent a warning to clubs that may face the issue by the end of Jan . bet they didnt , unless there is so many multi club ownership they didnt know were to startoʻ

And also if Lyon are not allowed back in it is another French club that take their place, not Palace.

If the French are feeling xenophobic about the nasty american ruining their lovely club then perhaps the best thing to do is to keep them relegated and in financial trouble to either force an administration or to force a sale by Textor to some nice French people to avoid such an administration.

Keeping Lyon in Ligue 1 could just prolong the Textor agony for Lyon. Even if we wants out, which he indicated, sometimes as we know it takes a couple of years for him to actually achieve that.
If Lyon are not in it Strasbourg take their place. We keep our place in it as no more conflict. Only team that benefits from us not being in it is Forest as they get bumped up from conference and Brighton take conference place.

As a local and Palace fan since 1948 when I used to sit on my dad's shoulders on the Whitehorse Lane terraces in what was then the vast Selhurst bowl, I never thought I'd live to see the day when we won the FA Cup. Like many I was overjoyed at the prospect of playing European football and then shattered to find we may be disqualified.

The new delay is excruciating not least because it completely bungs up our plans for new players and trashes Glasner's plans for early reinforcements.

If the final decision does goes in our favour there may be no time to strengthen the squad and we could be in the position of Burnley a few seasons back who suffered because they were ill equipped to play in Europe.

The present situation is the worst of all possible scenarios and very unfair as I think the majority of English clubs (save for Forest and Brighton) would support us. I just hope the FA can use whatever influence they have with UEFA to expedite matters. We now have to rely on the French to make a quick decision on Lyon's appeal against relegation. And if we have to go to CAS for a resolution then so we must.

In 1991 UEFA denied us our proper place in Europe and that team split up. I hope history is not repeating itself.
That hurt even more didn’t it? We really thought we were in until they reinstated the scousers after 6 years, 3rd place and no Europe, then a couple of years later the only top flight team to ever be relegated 4th off bottom, only us a? 🤨

Isn't it time for us to draw a line under this humiliation at the hands of UEFA, and say that because of your delay, we are not available for the dates for the games, and watch all the Premier league clubs struggle in their overpacked itinerary, while we finish in the top six next season and qualify for the Champions League without having to spend 14 extra games to do it, COYP

FYI Ligue 2 starts on 8th August, Ligue 1 a week or so later. So absolute latest for a decision by FFF would be start of August, but surely wouldn’t leave it that late.

Don’t imagine that everyone in France would be rooting for OL either. Football is notoriously tribal and there would plenty who would take great satisfaction from their relegation.

From the section on rivalries:

Historically, Lyon has had a healthy rivalry with Saint-Étienne, head-to-head clashes between the clubs being referred to as the Derby rhônalpin

Since the club's dominance at the start of the new millennium, however, they have established rivalries with Marseille, Bordeaux, Paris Saint-Germain and Lille. Lyon also share minor rivalries with fellow Rhône-Alpes clubs Grenoble and AS Lyon Duchère.

So it seems Lyon have a habit of rubbing the fans of other French clubs up the wrong way.

Would be more funny to be allowed in then make a mockery of it by fielding second string teams for all of our games.

The Sky Sports video that was referenced in the news stories gave me a ray of hope.

Basically it stated that the main reason they kicked the can down the road, is that if Lyon were not in the Europa League there would be no grounds for appeal. They're worried that if they let us in now, then Forest and Brighton would file an appeal and then it would drag on in the courts.

In other words, F*** ‘em!! They’re loss, we would’ve livened it up for them.

Much as I yearn for a bit of European football, I’m sure I’m not the only one who would blame SP now if he told them to shove it up their arse because we’ve got a season to prepare for and we don’t give a F*** because we won the fa cup😎😁

Don't really see what difference it makes wether we're in europe or not, we should be looking to make the squad as strong as possible regardless.
