Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

haven't seen anything from uefa saying we sent out all changes to rules and covering for all issues that are covered under rule changes for ever club , if they haven't then they have failed to issue a clear and workable rule , and lets look at the saga because uefa haven't and don't care ,
they could have sent a warning to clubs that may face the issue by the end of Jan . bet they didnt , unless there is so many multi club ownership they didnt know were to start
You may have a point. Who is to know but maybe, EUFA know they are as capable as Textor and are looking for yet another loophole!

From last week Lyon had seven days to appeal.
They've already appealed. He was asking how long before a decision. From what I have found these things can take weeks to resolve

The fact that Palace are not members of the ECA is more down to Steve Parish, than John Textor. As I said, not being a member of the ECA leaves Palace vulnerable when it comes to the usual channels and protocols regarding this issue. This was my reason for making the comment about Palace being caught out.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Textor would have specialists looking at this sort of stuff all the time. You have to be risk averse, and you have to demonstrate a high degree of due diligence when managing vast amounts of money, like this. The March 1st deadline changed the whole landscape of European football. There is no doubt that Textor knew this, and there is no doubt also his investment portfolio could, potentially, be seriously challenged by this hardening of UEFA's stance, which has turned out to be the case.

There has to be a reason why the CFCB did not rule in Palace's favour after the first meeting. And coupled with UEFA's change in the deadline date, they want to see MCOs reigned in. I would say this is a tinderbox situation that Textor knew was coming, and that it would not work out favourably for him. It is also ironic that at the heart of this are two issues of incorporation: the one is how MCOs are managed, the other is Textor's unwillingness to seek proper advice through the ECA. And as previously stated, the fact that UEFA have two members of the ECA on its executive committee is highly significant. At this level, an organisation like UEFA is going to be very sensitive to Textor's lack of proper consultation in a rapidly changing landscape regarding big money issues. It's rather like choosing to represent yourself in a dispute with your employer: it just throws the usual channels of communication out of gear and it leaves you exposed.

And yes, it's rather like me, who has just joined this comments section, making out that my comments are fact rather than just speculation: it winds people up because the protocols of making comments have been violated. It was not my intention to do this, just like it wasn't John Textor's intention to end up in this kind of mess; but when you don't follow the proper protocols both individuals and organisations get very upset when you don't seek appropriate legal advice through the proper channels.

I do believe UEFA are out to make an example of John Textor because they do not like his type of ownership in football, and given his track record I find it hard to disagree with them.

And in that regard they look to have been hugely successful with him out of Palace (almost) and stepped back from Lyon (though still owning)

Now that is done the hope would be they would not want to unfairly pursue sanctions against Palace any further?

If Lyon win the appeal but Palace get thrown out. Huge win for Textor!

No doubt the French will go to lunch, have a couple of bottles of win, then fairly decide that any answer other than “oui” would allow a club from perfidious Albion to enter the Europa League at the expense of the gastronomic centre of France. If the boot was on the other foot would not our FA do exactly the same? Just look how Everton managed to escape relegation.

Unfortunately Uefa are governed by the Swiss legal system and their laws have a habit of looking after their own. Look at FIFA which got away with world class corruption until the FBI got involved. Dear Mr Trump, your friend Woody and his chums are having a little problem with the nasty European Swiss…..etc,etc,etc.

Here we go again ……so at what point should Textor have placed his shares into a Blind Trust ? When ??

If you’re comparing it to an insurance policy, an analogy I don’t accept , then you might as well conclude that anyone with exposure or possible exposure to breaching MCO rules should place their shares into a Blind Trust on a season by season basis. Then the decision is which clubs shares should be selected ? One of them , some of them ?
What do you mean by 'here we go again' You sound like a lame politician.
I believe the rules are before March 1st, so that is the date. Agree that it is a mess that needs to be sorted out but just abide by the current situation and attempt to change it. Otherwise you land in the situation Palace are in.

You do realise if the French Federation allow Lyon back in that does not mean that Palace are out yes?

the rules are in place to prevent conflict of interest, there is now no such conflict, if Palace and Lyon play each other they won't have a common interest, technically we breached the March 1 deadline, but there is enough room for manoeuvre to lets us in, hopefully the delay is just for confirmation of Textor's withdrawal from either of the two clubs, he only needs to withdraw from one, plus the upshot of Lyon's appeal, if they win and the share sales have still not gone through then we would still be in breach, but once it is confirmed there is no common interest there really shouldn't be a problem, especially as we were never part of Eagle Holdings, the owner of that company had a minority shareholding and a vote which ALWAYS required Parish's consent.

FYI Ligue 2 starts on 8th August, Ligue 1 a week or so later. So absolute latest for a decision by FFF would be start of August, but surely wouldn’t leave it that late.

Don’t imagine that everyone in France would be rooting for OL either. Football is notoriously tribal and there would plenty who would take great satisfaction from their relegation.

All good points

And also if Lyon are not allowed back in it is another French club that take their place, not Palace.

If the French are feeling xenophobic about the nasty american ruining their lovely club then perhaps the best thing to do is to keep them relegated and in financial trouble to either force an administration or to force a sale by Textor to some nice French people to avoid such an administration.

Keeping Lyon in Ligue 1 could just prolong the Textor agony for Lyon. Even if we wants out, which he indicated, sometimes as we know it takes a couple of years for him to actually achieve that.

Here we go again because you’re just re hashing a debate that’s been circulating on here for a few weeks now !

I suppose at least if we do drop down we’ll have more chance of actually winning it
I actually felt the four teams in the Europa Conference semi finals were better than the ones in the Europa League semis this year.

Oh sure, someone will show me some stats that prove I am talking rubbish but I've never fact checked anything I've said on here.

In the words of Kaveh Solhekol :

"Crystal Palace remain in limbo with the latest update from UEFA. Pre-season training starts next week and no-one knows whether or not they will be playing in the Europa League next season. Players such as Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta are in demand and this latest UEFA delay will only add to the uncertainty surrounding their futures at the club. Palace cannot plan and prepare properly when they do not know which competitions they will be playing in next season.Palace executive chairman Steve Parish is known to be opposed to multi-club ownership in football so he must be more frustrated than anyone about what has happened since Palace won the FA Cup last month.Palace have good relations with UEFA and it would appear that UEFA have accepted that Textor does not have decisive influence over the way Palace are run.It has been reported that Textor was instrumental in bringing Oliver Glasner to Selhurst Park but that appointment was down to Parish and former sporting director Dougie Freedman. This is a very destabilising and unsettling period for everyone at Palace. Instead of enjoying their FA Cup win, strengthening their squad and looking forward to playing in Europe, they now have to sit and wait for a decision from French football’s financial watchdog"
