Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

I don’t necessarily agree with this. We don’t have to go balls out for anything other than the Premier League. If we pick up 4/5 new players and lose 2 which sounds quite feasible we can chop and change our squad to suit. We don’t have to play our strongest team in every competition.

Glasner isn’t stupid, he knows how to manage small squads and I personally do not see any downside in playing in the Europa League. I may be wrong but I don’t think there is Afcon this
coming season
, which would be a blessing.
Dec 18th to Mid Jan

Bedwetting over a perceived lack of transfer activity is unjustified.

Palace are 1 of 8 clubs who have signed one player so far this window. 3 clubs (Arsenal, Fulham, and Forest) haven’t signed anybody, and 2 of these are in Europe.

So, in terms of transfer activity, we are bog standard average for the PL.

Textor is now stepping back from Lyon, with Michele Kang (she owns Lyon's women's team) and Michael Gerlinger likely taking charge.

There was a lot more in yesterday's announcement that Lyon could play in the Europa League. They also we're forced to accept a UEFA restructuring plan lasting upwards of four years. In addition, they were fined €50m with €12.5 due immediately and the remainder to be avoided if Lyon manages to successfully restructure over the four years.

Next, ARES and Iconic Sports Management, the sources of the €400 million used by Textor to buy Lyon) are calling in a $93m (Yankee dollar denominated) Eagle Football stock buyback - due within a week. ARES and Iconic both want Textor out of Lyon, and have been attempting to remove him for the last several weeks. (Thursday's financial times- Investors threaten Lyon football club owner John Textor with legal action)

Between UEFA and Iconic, Textor/Eagle owes about £75 million due immediately. The squeeze play.

In my mind, starting with Textor's Palace ownership and presently with Lyon, we're viewing a forced series of sales being orchestrated by UEFA et al. In the end, at Lyon's relegation appeal meeting, as long as Textor has been removed, Lyon will be reinstated to ligue1 thus also gaining Europa.

We gain Europa as soon as the ownership name change at Lyon occurs? Mehopes so.

Everybody wins. Except Textor.

Controversial i know, but is it a blessing in disguise if we don’t get in, we are woefully unprepared for 4 competitions, with Internationals and the AFCON, what I don’t want is to rush in and buy 4/5 substandard players, just to bulk the Squad out, winning the F.A Cup has got the monkey off our back, keep building sensibly, and we will qualify though the league next season, it’s been a minefield for many clubs in the past.
I wonder what the odds are for Palace winning the FA cup again next season are . Would be worth a tenner .

Great debate but I want to know what the FA is doing to support Palace. It is their competition, The FA Cup, that it appears UEFA is trying to demean by preventing their winners from competing in the Europa League. After all, it was set up to accommodate the champions from each member’s cup competition as well as the ‘losers’ from their leagues. It would be disgraceful if the English winner of the world’s oldest football competition was denied entry.

Living up to it's acronym?.........

I hope you are correct and it serves Textor right.

Being a pessimist I took it that UEFA (run mainly by the French) were doing a solid for one of their own at our expense.

I like your version better.

Colluding with UEFA to find a legit reason to get us out. Right now they will have ongoing investigations into

- post match "VAR" decisions to see if they can overrule a cup result
- Private Investigators following Parish about
- Looking at betting odds and throw in times to "find" a betting scandal

Their reputation is on the line. What would it mean if a clean club that didn't breach PSR and had managed to build its way up into European competition fairly was actually allowed to compete? They'd have a precedent problem going forward.
