Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

The French expert guy, currently on Talksport with White and Jordan, says that Lyon can still compete in the Europa League (despite the relegation). All this is giving me a headache and a weird sense of anxiety.
But some are saying that their 6th place will be expunged. My concern is that this could drag on for ages with Lyon making appeals.

UEFA's rules state: “To ensure the integrity of the Uefa club competitions, the club must be able to prove that as at 1 March 2025 the… multi-club ownership criteria were met and the club must continue to comply with the criteria from that date until the end of the competition season.”
That’s what it says, but if that was the only criteria in play ,this circus would not be taking place. The rules also ask that decisive influence is not a fact. My feeling is that ,that is what we stood on , Textor had no decisive influence. That may not have been quiet enough but whatever it was the fact that UEFA gave the club until the end of the month suggests there was a way out they could both agree on.

It’s all such a mess …the rules seem to made up as they go along depending on team of lawyers the club in question has at its disposal. Then there is the inherent corruption due to the amount of money involved.

I don’t think they can do that because of the repercussions for the rest of the league with the final standings. From what the French fella on talksport is saying, they will be relegated, but they can still compete in the Europa league

there is wriggle room here, and room for a bit of common sense - there is no way we could have foreseen we would be in Europe on March 1, we were 20/1 - I know bcos I backed us at those odds, Lyon's 6th place is no more, neither are Textor's shares - that's got to be enough. They'll let us in with one or two token conditions so the likes of Forest won't have a case. Get your suit cases ready boys!

Technically the Sale hasn't gone through yet, waiting FA approval, so still in play for now...

The fun is being knocked out of football. Games kick off at different times to suit TV, hand ball is a lottery, goal celebrations are muted while VAR uses a micrometer to recalibrate angles and now the joy of qualifying for Europe has been diluted by this issue.
In an ideal world we could tell UEFA to stick their second tier cup but of course the finances dictate every action.

Sorry, but that's nonsense. OL have been relegated because Eagle Group have debts of £422m, which will be almost halved by the sale of Palace, which is £190m.
Eagle Holdings have not got that debt, OL have . . .

It's not the implication of what Textor says (you can judge how important that is yourself ...)

"We have made a variety of investments in recent weeks," he said. "Everything is good financially."

Textor is also the largest shareholder of Brazilian club Botafogo and currently co-owner of Palace until his deal to sell his stake to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is completed.

"Over the past few months, we have worked closely with the DNCG, fulfilling all of its requests with equity investments that exceeded the required amounts," Lyon's statement continued.

"Thanks to capital injections from our shareholders and the sale of Crystal Palace, our cash flow has significantly improved and we now have more than sufficient financial resources for the 2025-26 season."

But it is a pretty basic point that if a rule is discriminatory or unfair then it may not be upheld

That is what UEFA are worried about, testing that at CAS

And of course there is a strong opinion, about to be decided, that Palace did meet the criteria
Spot on. UEFA have set precedent of later dates in previous years. 1 March date is nonsense and agree with you risk the whole thing falls apart if taken to court

This is the thread for those that like to gossip,... a bit 🙂

What if my granny had bollocks ?

You can argue she's my grandad or granny, but all you know for certain, .. is there's bollocks 😀

Have you stopped for a second to consider that maybe he's not as racist as the people who are insisting that he attends and bends the knee to a group of people with a chip on their shoulder as if he's guilty of all their oppression. I can't imagine the uproar if we insisted that black people had to attend a series of lectures and culture events based on white history. He makes a point that is valid because it's written in statistics, addressing their family issues would go a long way to life improvement over forcing rich white people to attend these nauseating guilt trips. I'm certain that he's not out to chuck bananas at our black players.

As for men's clubs. Feminists just out to invade male spaces. Notice that there are STILL women only golf clubs, NOBODY has forced them to change.
I think that's called school.

But we won the FA Cup so it’s not all bad 😀

on getting relegated, Lyon will lose most of their top talent. Thereafter they can compete wherever they like. Not going to win anything.
