Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

We won the FA cup. That's great, a first for the club, in the record books for all time. We got into Europe on the back of it, again a first, but all things considered not as important as the cup victory or building on our position in the Premiership.
The Europa League would have proved tricky, I don't think we have the squad depth to seriously compete across all competitions effectively. We need to remind ourselves that our average Prem finish is around 12th, so not even in the top half, let alone playing extra games in Europe against some very decent sides. Should Parish contest the ruling I can only envisage it dragging on through the season, creating unnecessary doubt in the background. Add to which we don't know which players are going or staying, and / or who will be signed to replace them.
And then there is Glasner, who I suspect will leave at the end of his contract, poached by a "bigger" club.
Moral of the story: enjoy it while you can...

I disagree.

Because they've had weeks to become '' au fait '' with those internal workings.

Only to opine against the evidence submitted.

Textors withdrawl from both Lyon and Palace means whatever MCO doubt existed has now been removed.

Without rehashing the debate around the feasibility of adhering to the 1/3/25, that date is what Palace are being excessively punished for.
I am not privy to information apropos the evidence submitted or the rationale behind UEFA's decision.
Even if we provided salient information regarding the internal workings of CPFC, it would appear UEFA have concluded that the 43% breaches their 'Threshold' and as such ruled that 'Eagle Football Holdings' had a decisive influence at the club.

Ive only dipped in and out of the thread over the 200 pages but seen this sort of comment a few times and it isn't quite true. There are three bits to the article 5.

A) which applies to the club (not its shareholders so far as I can tell). So CPFC itself. This does not apply here, the club dont own any interest in Lyon.

B) which applies to management/administration, which may apply to Textor, not clear to me whether he had any actual involvement in Palace management/admin. Clearly from his role at Lyon he was there. If he was at Palace too (which we'd argue against) Then we'd be out. I haven't got the impression this is what UEFA are arguing but I haven't looked at anything from uefa. But if he was a director (which looks like he was) Then it's probably a slam dunk for uefa.

C) which applies to shareholders etc and does refer to control or influence and uses examples (not definitive) of control such as majority share ownership when it comes to voting rights (not relevant here) and also being able to exercise a decisive influence in decision making of the club.

So if c is being applied there is scope for arguing what decisive is, it is very relevant how many votes he has etc. I dont see why we wouldn't have a decent chance of appeal tbh even without Textor selling, but obviously the club is paying someone lots of money to advise on that and weigh up if its better to just get on with life now and maybe sue UEFA later.

"if he was a director (which looks like he was) Then it's probably a slam dunk for uefa."

If he's a director with one vote out of four and without the casting vote which means he must get a three to one majority against Parrish to overrule him then it's probably less than a slam dunk, and not quite a penalty kick maybe?

With that mentality, we should have avoided getting promotion back in 2013 because that squad wasn't the strongest and was made up of other clubs cast offs and misfits.

The EL will start as scheduled, appeal or not.

Moral of the story ; show some character

The only decisive influence I can infer from this, is that bulging brown envelopes and personal disputes have swayed opinions at UEFA.

"The whole point is that UEFA have not been applying the rules consistently. The latest update from this whole shambles is that Nottingham Forest's owner, Evangelos Marinakis's father-in-law is Savvas Theodoridis, who is the vice-president of Olympiacos, the football club owned by Marinakis. Savvas Theodoridis's son, Theodore Theodoridis, is the acting general secretary of UEFA."

Copied this off the bbc, how true all this is . . .
Excellent bit of research!
However, his appointment was confirmed back in September 2016.

doesn't Textor own 51% or 50% of Eagle Holdings which brings his personal Palace share down below 25%, a 51% share giving him a majority might be effectively a 43% share in Palace, but it's just another possible shade of grey which may give our lawyers a bit of wriggle room

I haven't conducted a forensic examination of these figures accordingly I cannot confirm or deny Textor's precise shareholding in 'Eagle Football Holdings'.I have always viewed him as the 'Head Honcho' and the Chairman of the company.

Close the thread until we have the conclusion, then we can open a new 200 page thread discussing the outcome 😎

We already have, but then we woke up to a whole new set of realities that we are forced to deal with!

One more comment. 7 Lib Dem MPs have written to the culture secretary asking her to intervene in this "disgraceful" decision.

She won't.

But are the Lib Dems now the party of Palace?

(That last comment will cause some interesting reactions on our reactionary News threads)

They have as much power in their world as we do in ours.

Wahooo, 200 pages of utter rubbish 😍😎😍🤣
The Brexit thread on News stuffed with rabid comments about needing to check the flood of those (ahem) criminal tarbrushes from China and that coming over here bombing our schools and that and killing white babies and that went to way more pages than this and was full of a great deal less.

No. The four local MPs which includes Steve Reed, a Cabinet Minister, posted support last week. By this stage Lisa Nandy will be well aware of the issues.
