Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

Assuming the worst and we are demoted to the UEFA Zenith Data / Vanarama 2 bob league:

1. Take them to court and hopefully humiliate them. This has happened on lots of occasions as law and football seem to be distant cousin.

2. In the event we lose tell UEFA to stick their relegation and refuse to participate.

Two other points:

1. I know fans are thinking about protesting we should only do this after we get the bad news not before.

2. I fully expect in a couple of years that UEFA will end up punishing Lyon, Nottingham Forest and Botafogo because of their dubious connections and transfers. By then of course it will be no help to Palace.

Probably the best way to save face and avoid legal issues for UEFA would be to say we are in if the sale goes through, and we know our multiple rules are crap and we will make them clearer for next season (decisive control ambiguity).
However this is UEFA so expect us to be out, but they should have said that a week ago.

Textor on Talksport saying he signed a contract which says he had 0% voting share, so why is this whole thing even a conversation?
To be perfectly honest I am not privy to all the facts, I do not profess to having an in-depth knowledge of the UEFA rules that are currently at the heart of the matter.
Should we get demoted and the reasons for such action is made clear I will then form a judgement.

Why can't Parish issue a statement about our Europa League position ?
If we were demoted to the conference I would tell them to stick it.
Why are Palace fans always kept in the dark ?
For example, does anyone have any idea at all, when construction of the mythical new stand might be started/finished ??
Parish is keeping his powder dry, but I expect that he has a plan and statement ready to go as soon as UEFA issue their own statement. He may also be subject to some form of silence agreement whilst the case is considered. If we are in the Europa League...fine. If we are out of the Europa League, I expect both the Board and the fans to make sure at every opportunity that the world knows we have been shafted by UEFA, starting with the game against Liverpool at Wembley and definitely at our first home match against Forest.

We know Marinakis has character traits and needs to be in control at all times. Had Forest achieved Champions League status he would have to put his ownership into a blind trust until the team gets knocked out. This could involve Forest being unable to trade players in both the summer and winter transfer windows and the ability to sack the manager. If you look at La Liga runners up, Girona, they went into freefall and just avoided relegation this season after the City Group put them into a blind trust. Forest went on a bad run with just eight point in eight PL matches after Marinakis put them into a trust in April. But was this natural or a deliberate attempt to keep control by attempting to qualify for the Europa League rather than the Champions League. Were his histrionics on the pitch to hide this? Of course Palace ruined it by winning the Cup thus demoting Forest to the Europa Conference.

The big give away is when Jim white ask the question: When Ward and guehi lifted the cup at Wembley did you (textor) think there could be trouble ahead, his answer YES.

I think we will end up in the conference, we will appeal but i think things will stand IMO

For a club our size the priority is always, and has to be, to avoid relegation. By taking that pragmatic approach, Parish has built arguably our best squad in the club's history, which enabled us to win our only major trophy and to qualify for Europe. What a legacy. By contrast, Textor gave us some money and made a big profit on selling his shares. His legacy could be preventing us playing in Europe for the first time in our history.
It wasn’t Textor that has kept us out of Europe, it’s essentially down to the voting power and influence that Lyon have through the ECA, plus it’s political influence and connections with the French government, as evidenced by Lyon’s chairman and club president, Michele Kang meeting up with the French sports minister, Marie Barsacq, on Tuesday evening. It couldn’t be more in your face and blatant that we’re up against a very powerful network of elite institutional interests.

It's not Palace's fault that Forest aren't in the Champions League...a home draw against Leicester followed by a loss at home on the last day of the season to Chelsea meant that they phucked up. They had their destiny in their own hands and now the fat grumpy guy wants to make everybody else suffer for his anger. Tough, fat boy. And to be honest, I would not be surprised if the Forest fans do their own tifo supporting us...

Aside from personal opinions of Textor, I actually found the TalkSport interview a way of trying to publicly force UEFA's hand. He has sold his shares in Palace, has no interest in whether or not we get into the Europa League anymore but has gone on radio and categorically denied any "controlling influence" in Palace. In doing so, he has sh*t on Parish a bit but it's probably needs must in these situations.

I actually think it's a very smart move, applies more pressure onto UEFA to rule in our favour.

Goodbye Textor, glad to see the back of you though.
If this is documented, how are we non-compliant?

We won't end up in the Conference League because Bronby are in that so they would stay and we would be out of Europe entirely. Unless Blitzer and Harris have clarified with UEFA that Bronby/Palace are not classed as muliclub. Its Europa League or bust.
Really any club in with any multiclub (1%, 10%, 25%, or whatever) ownership like us should have to gain UEFA verification at the start of the season, so we all know in advance the situation. If you don't get verification or they say you are multiclub it's an instant ban if you qualify for next season if both teams in. Then it's all clear way before the season ends and we can't complain.
There current rules are legally ambiguous and not black and white.

Just a thought…
Do you think it’s possible that Palace have been told by UEFA to expect a fine & stay in the EL but haven’t decided how much yet?
We all know how UEFA love to make a few quid & Palace seem to be keeping a tight grip on the purse strings.

If they do it'll be more than the prize money for winning the bloody thing.

It was good to see John Textor expose Jim White’s lack of any knowledge regarding the Brøndby situation. I’m surprised that Simon Jordan didn’t correct him, either.

My assumption is that they thought that the Lyon relegation would solve the issue for them. They also need to do their due diligence by the other clubs involved - i.e Forest. If they don't do their due diligence and this comes out later, they will have a hefty lawsuit on their hands I imagine.

These things take time unfortunately. The biggest issue is the rule itself, not the decision that comes out the back of it. If MCO is a problem, why does putting shares into a trust change anything when the same people are running the same business? Also, why is the cut off date during the previous season? Surely it would make sense to say - if you want to be in this competition next season, sell your shares before the season starts or F off out. Simple.

There is no basis for a fine.

If UEFA clear us to play in the EL it's because they've finally woken up to the extent of Textor's influence at Palace.

We possibly weren't on some arbitrary date. I'm not seeing it hold out legally, however. But there are a lot of vested interests against us - which is the sickening reality. Frankly, European football isn't worth a sh1t if they exclude us. If you want to see the reality, type "Champions League is fixed" into Google search.

It certainly looks that way.

However, I think they've had ample time to perform their due diligence. That amounts to going over the evidence provided to them, which we had confirmed was in the form of constitutional documents, e-mails etc. You would assume that they have trained people with governance experience to perform the checks.

Yes, their rules are not fit for purpose. Certainly open to legal challenge will could be the next step. UEFA are creating their own problems caused by their own incompetence.
