As from 1st July next year(25/26 season) 'keepers who hold onto the ball whilst in play will be given 8 seconds to release it, this replaces the existing law of 6 seconds. Under the 'old' law failure to release the ball would result in an indirect free-kick to the opposition, under the new law, a corner will result if the 'keeper fails to release the ball.

It will be ludicrously enforced for the first 3 games of the season before being ignored, just like every other new thing they bring in then forget about.
