Mateta

I'm not joining the pile on against Mateta.

The guy wanted to leave last Summer and has been playing with an injury.

I expect he will have surgery now, but if he is playing in a Palace shirt, then it makes no sense to barrack him. If he scores goals, then everybody should be happy.

I hope he can get fit and finish the season with a flourish. Then we can wave him off with no hard feelings. He is an FA Cup winner.
For a club like Palace, the connection between the players and the fans has always been part of the character of the club. Mateta wanted to force a move through to get out the club and get to Milan, you can tell by Glasner's comments pre-Forest and Henderson alluded to it aswell.

He has let down the fans who paid their hard earned cash to travel to Forest and watch them play without a striker because someone earning £50k a week refuses to do what is stated in the contract he signed. The club have given him a platform to get his move to Milan, to be in with a chance of playing for France at the world cup and have only ever said "it needs to work for us too".

Marc Guehi has set the standard when it comes to acting professionally and progressing your career. Mateta has been ill-advised, behaved poorly and deserves to be told that by the fans too. He has downed tools for a while and has been using his knee injury as a scapegoat for that. If you're injured, don't play. If you're not injured, buckle up and give it 100%.

Every member of the FA Cup winning squad will always have a place in my heart, it was the best day of my football supporting life. It's just a shame that Mateta has gone about his exit from the club the way he has. Similarly with Glasner. Wouldn't say either of them have been "piled on" but the paying fans of the club are entitled to let them know that we deserve better than that BS.

Glasner ,should go now and take his equally unsettling, poisonous side kick Mateta with him,so they can allow Palace to fight to stay up in style without their bad influence and negativity.

Can I also nominate the guy in Row 13 of Block L of the Holmesdale who has nothing but negative things to say and leaves 10 minutes before the end of every game?

This is my thoughts also. It's to the benefit of all parties involved that he recovers fully from surgery and finds form.

No one is going to want to buy him if he comes back a crock who still can't hit a barn door. As much as he needs his move and the best chance possible of getting into the France squad; we need the goals, we need the competition for forwards and we need to get the best fee we can for him, when eventually, he leaves us.

My boss who is crap earns more than me. I agreed my salary and how can JPM on £3.5m a year really survive !!!
It's all relative.

Unfortunately for Mateta, he has never got to a club that pay the big bucks. Nketiah started at Chelsea and then moved to Arsenal. His career has been a disappointment on the field, but well paid.

I think that connection is largely in the minds of fans. Players have careers to think about.

Sure it's obvious that fans and players have a common interest while a player is at the club which creates a natural bond, but the promise of more money and status and they are usually off like a shot. There is no loyalty.

Best case scenario: the knee surgery goes well, he bangs in a load of goals and gets us into the Champions League, we pull down the pants of some muppets like Spurs who pay us £60m and he never scores a goal for anyone ever again because he's essentially not very good.

the only problem with this is that the surgery will put him out for 4 months so he won't return til june at the earliest.
