Mark Lazarus

One of the very best lower league players of any era, came to Palace , later in his career, though still a real handful. He entertained us then, but he did that every time he came to Selhurst over the years as opposition with QPR, not just his skilful wing play but his constant banter with the touch line fans.
RIP Mark, unforgettable.

Who can forget his trademark lap of honour after scoring.

RIP Mark. Condolences to his family and friends. Can’t be many of my ‘60’s heroes still with us now, sadly.🙏
I have just thought of the following players from the 60s, no longer with us :
Presland, Long, Summersby, McCormick, Sewell, Byrne, John Jackson, Petchey, Dowsett.
Further thought would reveal others as well.

At the time Johnny Byrne’s passing was a real shock with him being quite young at the time. Losing Mel Blyth was a sad day too, another of my all time favourites from that era. RIP boys.

I have such pleasant memories of Mark Lazarus in that No 7 shirt.
I have a distant memory of him scoring his first goal for the club.I am far from certain of our opponents, the game was in the mists of time and I am in the twilight of my life.
