Mark Lazarus

At the time Johnny Byrne’s passing was a real shock with him being quite young at the time. Losing Mel Blyth was a sad day too, another of my all time favourites from that era. RIP boys.
My last memory of Mel Blyth was way after he retired. He was leaving Westside/Kembers in South Croydon.
I believe he embarked on a career as a driving instructor.

This thread has prompted furious googling of ex players that would have been in my favourites category, which I’ve found to be quite depressing. I’ve quit whilst ahead, as happy to find Gerry Queen is still with us at 80. Just a year older than me.❤️💙🦅

Manager Bert Head did love shopping in Scotland, two others from the 60’s he brought to the club still with us are Tony Taylor and John Loughlan. Good luck to them for many more years.

Mark was part of the team that saw us promoted to the first division. He scored one of the goals against Fulham that got us there. Great character who always gave you something to smile about and a loyal servant to all of his clubs.
R.I.P

I was in the Cottage Hospital in Hermitage Road SE19, at the same time as John Loughlan, both having football injuries attended to.
