Marc Guéhi

Maybe Liverpool are getting close to the FFP limit - Van Dijk signed a two year contract in the spring, reportedly at £385,000 a week, the new signings including Ekitike & Wirtz will be on big wages too. It's possible they'll wait a year and start phasing van Dijk out next year when he'll be 35.
We looked at him for 6m I read. But we have maxence who is equally as good imo.

They’re not close to the limit as that is how they can buy Isak if he wants to go there. They have (sadly) been very prudent and clever with their money in the past few seasons and that is why they can go MEGA in transfer window this summer.

I think they will wait a year for Guehi as Konate is more than likely going to Real Madrid next summer on a free.

That's why I suggested above that we offer him a big sign-on bonus of £5m or more, to get him to sign a new contract, with a bigger salary of £100k+ and a release clause of £65k. That way both he and the Club should be happy next year.

We can't make a player leave if he doesn't want to go. I'm sure Guehi would go this window if Liverpool were to guarantee him being a 1st choice CB and were willing to negotiate a reasonable fee with us. Neither of those seem to be the case but still time.
Makes sense for him to stay with us another year then. Guarantee 1st choice and in a world cup year. He can't be second choice.

I'm more than happy to get another year out of him and maybe lift a European trophy. Let him go for a 50 million release clause. It would suit all party's.

Particularly as he was only just 25 and has got 23 caps playing for us so we're not holding him back on that score.

If I were in his shoes I'd probably stay for another season with a view to having his pick of clubs on a free next season in a potentially very lucrative move for him.
For this season he's a guaranteed starter and captain at Palace in a world cup year ( on the assumption that playing for England is key for him).
He could sign an enhanced contract with a high release clause ( like Olise) but has shown no inclination of doing this.

Palace won't push him out the door and if Guehi doesn't want to go to a particular club, or a transfer fee can't be agreed, the options look limited for the club.

In demand players hold the cards these days.
The fortunate thing is that, whatever happens, Guehi seems a solid pro with high standards that I can't see dropping.

How about say £120K/wk for three year contract with a release clause of £40m starting next summer which either party can trigger assuming Guehi is happy with the interested club.
That would be way better for him in case something were to happen injury wise this season, and it also means we will at least get £40m back next summer. Plus he will be a guaranteed starter this season at Palace and in Europe.

The only way we will get him to sign a new contract is if he thought he was not going to be a guaranteed starter if he didn't. He wants to be in England contention and if he goes to Liverpool now he may not be as not guaranteed starter My view is we look for replacement and buy so he has real competition. Another option is we negotiate with Liverpool and try and find a way forward. Geuhi reportedly has a sell on clause as does winger we were looking at and Napoli look like they will win him with a loan (high loan fee) plus obligation to buy at slightly above price current club paid. So Liverpool pay a loan fee of 25 million with obligation to buy in January at around 25 million. We pay Chelsea 20% of difference in this and purchase price. Konate is also seeing out his contract and then moving on free. We could offer him a loan place and thus guaranteed playing time for both him and Guehi in World Cup year.

I'd imagine the club has been attempting this for the past year plus.

Newcastle could offer the same + Champions league football and he would be guaranteed a starting spot, contrasting with the other purported interested teams, Spurs and Liverpool, and thus helping his WC chances. Maybe we get 30million, Newcastle set a release clause they would make a profit on and they have 12 months for the club and fans to convince him to stay

If he stays with us this year and sees his contract out does that mean he is a free agent next summer?
So he can get a signing on fee with another club of say £40m and a juicy five year contract of say£200k/wk? If this is the case, we had better face up to the fact that we have just lost a huge potential sale. Who in MG's position would not do that?

We would certainly take it better than the scousers when Trent left.
