Marc Guéhi

Question for me now is...can he remain captain?
My gut says yes, of course he can.
But do you not want your captain committed to the club? Committed to the project?
MG clearly is not.
Yes, he's acted professional. He's a total gem. I get it.
But must be a weird situation for the players, following a leader who won't sign a contract and clearly wanted out.

Not necessarily. How many of them wouldn't want out as well if Liverpool was the option? They're probably quite sympathetic to him.

That was all OG as was winning the FA Cup and Charity Shield..!!

That was despite SP not because of..!!

Yes SP saved us from going out of existence - but that was 15 years ago, and we will be eternally grateful - but he can’t keep drinking from that well.

Then was then, now is now and this window has been an utter shambles - culminating in todays fiasco..!!
Like you (no doubt) and me, Steve Parish is a life long Palace fan. He stood on the terraces, he became financially rich and rescued the club. He cares as much about Palace as you and me, and thousands of others. Have faith.

Suspect they are a tight knitted bunch and will be delighted with him staying for a while longer. He'll be wearing the arm band against Sunderland and the team will be rallying round as per previous seasons.

5 points from a difficult opening 3 games. I think Glasner could lead us to a European finish this year. We beat Aston villa last night easily at Villa park. Maybe Guehi will sign a new contract with palace if we have a very good season. We lost Eze and Glasner knew we couldn't afford to lose another key player.

Marc Guehi is an exceptionally decent guy; its a win win on reflection, talksh*ite's Danny Murphy was suggesting he may never have the opportunity to go to a ('massive') club like Liverpool again as he may pick up a serious injury in the meantime - bullsh*t. He will have better options at the end of his contract and Palace could win more trophies! It's worth the risk that he'll leave on a free and feels we've brought a world class player in the window and I'm happy. Thanks Marc for you professionalism and compared to some, you are a fantastic role model for the club and football.

He undoubtedly is. But let's not forget, he's still putting us in an awkward position by not signing an extension on his contract. Olise did...he got his move...we got a decent fee. There's an outcome available that makes it a win-win-win for everyone involved...Marc just isn't prepared to help us out with it. So let's not be too effusive with our praise for him. Ultimately, he still wants to leave our beloved Palace without much consideration for our future.

In your head ?
I really don’t get how some on here can’t see this for what it is - a complete shambles of a transfer window..!!

No strategy, no plan - spent the first 2 months arguing a case and taking on a corrupt establishment in a case we were never going to win..!!

Dancing round transfer budget dependent on whether we were in Europa or Conference - when in reality difference is negligible given todays transfer fees.

Normal SP procrastination ensued - business done too late - which I called 2 months ago..!!

Then todays nonsense..!!

Why are we talking about holes in transfer budgets based upon incoming transfer revenue - other teams seem to simply ignore it - why are we any / so different..??

Seems to me that many in here blinded by SP nostalgia and rhetoric - when in reality if it weren’t for OG’s intervention today on the Guehi deal - any progression we have made would have been flushed down the pan..!!

Both parties knew what they were signing when his contract was agreed.
Marc told Palace ages ago that he wouldn’t sign a new one.
It was Parish that said he had to be sold in this window
The player is responsible for HIS future, Parish is responsible for Palace’s

As has been said, Guehi can sign a pre-contract with an overseas club come January. How will Liverpool handle that come the January window? Do a Real Madrid and offer us say £15m or so to ensure they get him in January or trust that Guehi won't be tempted by approaches from one of the big European trams and wait till the Summer.

Interesting dynamic there unless Liverpool really is the only club Guehi wants to move to.
