Marc Guéhi

Ok maybe I used the wrong wording. But if he wanted to leave he should have said so a long time before now to give the management time to get in a suitable replacement. But all along he has stated that he is commited.
Guehi didn’t really care either way and looked happy to stay and go on a free end of season, or leave immediately. The one thing he wasn’t going to do was sign any sort of new contract. Parish made it quite clear that if he wasn’t going to sign a new contract then he would be sold, so that is what has happened.

I have absolutely no issue with that but I’ll be massively disappointed if Parish thinks the loan for Igor is an adequate replacement because he is not.

We all know what Glasner said about keeping Marc. Let us not forget though that the player did not sign an extension. For a club like Palace, we don't have big cash, to lose a 35-40m player for free next year it is just too much. We needed to sell and everyone knows it. All the blame here on Parish but there was nothing he could do. A million percent he offered Marc and his agent all sorts of deals to extend, improve contract etc. All were clearly turned down. Marc, like Eze, behaved impeccably this month, but in the end they want their dream moves. We as fans might be annoyed but that's the food chain.
Now in the next few hours we find the truth. We have to get a serious level replacement in. Igor and Canvot are not the Guehi replacement. Pavlovic or Diomande, something of that level only is required.
Luckily we only have to wait a few hours to find out.
They’re both Christians and come from good families and parenting. It’s one of the things we’re really good at. Signing players of good character only.

I really hope Glasner is on board with this. If he is pissed off and leaves, it's hard to believe 35m (minus Chelsea's cut) makes it worth it. By no means a small sum but when you consider his quality and that Wissa is going for 55m (also in last year of his contract), Guehi's price is an absolute steal.

At the end of the day Marc was happy to see out his contract with us to get a bumper pay deal when signing for Liverpool next season. Glasner has not been backed and SP will live to regret it. You can tell how firm Ollie was on wanting Guehi to stay. We really can't afford to keep him despite billionaire owners!?

Sorry, but that's totally incorrect.

He has always said that he would not sign another contract. I'm surprised that fact has escaped you.

The club have had ample time to find a replacement, but have left it so late in the day as to piss off the manager.

In the meantime Marc has shown 100% commitment and been a total credit to himself.
Well said, he’s broke the mold as far as modern day self obsessed premier league players are concerned with his professionalism and how humble he’s been. Especially after Isak’s antics
Personally I hope Marc gets what he deserves this season, a couple of medals at Liverpool, hopefully not at our expense and to be one of the first names on the team sheet for England at next years World Cup

In the last 2 summer windows, we lost Zaha and Olise, then went on to be a better team. There is no doubt Glasner and Parish did everything they could to convince Guehi to stay, but he was determined to leave. Yes, we could of make him honour his contract, but that never works out well.
Guehi wants to leave, Parish didn't want to sell him, but financial sense takes over emotion, it's better for the club to get £35m, than nothing.
Blaming Parish and the board is pointless, it's Guehi if anyone to blame, he didn't want to stay, but further his career and win major honours.
Liverpool will have spent £450m this window, how is that right?
The rules are largely to blame. If we could spend based on our investors' worth, then we could also spend a fortune on players. Whether that would have a positive impact on our relative position is another matter.
The ambition we need to see now is in the club's infrastructure. We desperately need a bigger and better stadium.

It's also been reported over the past couple of weeks that he was not pushing for a move. There are no innocent parties in this saga. Guehi, Parish and the board should have prepared for this.
No, he wasn't agitating for the move.

If Parish decided not to sell then Guehi would have honoured his contract.

What's your point ?

How much indication do you need than not extending his contract when approached no doubt several times and intervals? He can be committed while he’s with us and then when he leaves he’s committed to a new club. This isn’t a marriage or love partnership.

We can kiss Glasner goodbye now as well then.
Parish you are one prize c*** for doing this to our manager you spineless gobshite.
You've had your go with your three stooges so now please feel free to f*** off and take them with you.
I for one am not going to spend the rest of my days bowing to you for saving the club with your mates who by the way , did the right thing and buggered off when they knew their time was up, unlike you.
I hope you're pleased with crapping all over the best coach in our history!

Well, that was John Textor's take - clubs have funds, billionaire owners etc etc but aren't allowed to invest.

Not that I would trust him to run the financials of CPFC !

The rules actually favour the ' establishment ' - the ' new money ' - Newcastle for example, aren't able to financially gatecrash their party.

Good luck with that 🤣

Exactly. Football mirrors society.

Why should ‘Guehi prepare for this?’

He wouldn’t extend for ages and the Palace board knew it. A deal was done with 3-4 hours left rather than Palace getting nothing. Why are you pointing the finger at Guehi? He’s not your girlfriend.

Odds that Glasner will now
follow him out the door ? The replacements a 19 year old kid and injury prone Brighton reserve
Guehi was 21 when he came to us , and he made mistakes , thankfully we have two senoir players to help him , so dont right the kid off before we have seen him play , anyway it could all change if Igor goes to west ham instead

I'm sure they have.

I'd imagine his sale is contingent on a replacement coming in. They aren't idiots.

I hope they aren't idiots.......

Letting Guehi go shows the level of ambition that Parish has and if Glasner (our most successful manager) leaves that is totally his (Parish) fault.
We are still running into Aldi at last knockings then wondering why all the good stuff has gone.
He is selling our Captain and probably England’s next. Yes he would have walked away for free next June but a good chance in that time of us winning more trophies and his successor being given time to develop.
I would also like know what investment our American co-owners are putting into the club because at the moment it looks like bugger all! Of course it’s secret…

He should have been sold last year for the quoted 70 million, egos got in the way and now he’s going for half fee and still don’t have a replacement, nothing to do with Marc he’s done his job right to the very end, now we wait to see if next year we need a new manager, someone has to hold their hands up to this, who’s right , who’s wrong doesn’t matter now, and as usual it’s the palace supporters that in my mind once again suffer! Mr Parish have a long good look in the mirror, egos should never mix with business no matter who pissed you off last year .
