Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Brighten up Hrolf . I feel like we just won the cup!!!
Wharton is back and played brilliant for 10ish minutes. Eze looked good.
It doesn’t get much better than this mate.
Not to be taken for granted.

Watch a few cheeky late £50m offers come in for Mateta. Resist! He’s our man and anyway a £70m player in my book. Especially with the lack of goal scorers around.
The commentators were talking about Munoz overlapping for the 2nd goal and said, "What United wouldn't give for a wing back like that."

Maybe not word for word, but pretty close. Anyway, leave him alone United (and numerous other teams like that other Manchester team that looked pathetic today).

I had Lacroix first goal 45s. He had the long range shot. Then my phone pinged telling me we was 1 up (Firestick is a bit behind) max looping header , thought it was going in, you know the rest.
Great result though.

So I go 3-0 3-1 fiver each normally as a bit of fun and close it down. I made a mistake and put 2-0 without rechecking.
Pleasantly surprised with that mistake.
25-1 so a bit of play money in the account .
Alongside 3 points nice day 😂

This splendid victory has taken us on to 30 pts from 24 games, 13 pts clear of the relegation zone.
At this juncture last season we had amassed 24 pts and were 4 pts above the relegation zone.
Even the King of the doomsayers does not believe that we will plummet through the relegation trapdoor !
Willo i think we have an outside chance of Europe, just need to start winning at home.

He's not having any worse of a game than anybody else.

For me the weak link today is Mitchell. He's getting into good positions but his crossing and shooting is just dire.
Thankfully his defending is fairly on point today.

Mitchell was shocking again today; can’t pass or cross.

Looks lost trying to go forward these days, and as for his shooting…well! 🙄

I guess you didnt watch the game, Mitchell sent a cross onto Munoz head, easier to score, than miss. Made a number of key blocks and defensive tackles, kept Amad quiet and ran himself into the ground.

We won, but you decide to slag off one of the players to suit your negative agenda.

For me he is an extremely competent full back but a bang average wingback. I can understand why we are looking at Chilwell because he is a big upgrade going forward whilst only a minor downgrade defensively.

Competing in Europe can have its drawbacks.
Burnley under Dyche finished in 7th place in the PL and qualified for the 'Europa League'
I believe they played in 6 EL games towards the start of the season.
Burnley were defeated in 4 of their opening 5 PL games, they only won 2 of their first 10 PL games and finished in 15th place. We did the 'Double' over them that season.

Of course this is true but who wouldn't like to experience European games? The drawbacks are for another day and it would be so much better than eyeing up the relegation places.

Hughes is untouchable for me at the moment. Not even Wharton gets in ahead of him.
I'd imagine though it'll be Hughes and Wharton together in those CM roles. Surely?
I can't see Wharton starting or playing a long game for a while. It will prob be rotation and he gets game time towards the end of the game. I hope we manage his return well.

I have had the experience of watching our team play in the 'Anglo-Italian' cup in the early 70s, including a home game against Inter Milan.
We actually defeated Inter Milan away from home in this competition which was a stupendous result. The Inter Milan team had an array of top players and hadn't been defeated at Home for months.

I did watch the game and I don’t have an agenda, let alone a negative one. I’m delighted with the win but I want us to progress and Mitchell is simply not good enough to play the LWB role in Glasner’s preferred system. His crossing, passing and shooting are generally awful and he does SO little for us going forward. That run in the second half where he just ploughed into the Man U midfielders, leaving the ball behind, just sums him up.

I was also at the game last week and witnessed Eze perform some lovely skill to beat two Brentford players and then lay it back to Mitchell, who just kicked it straight out of play! From the resulting throw-in Brentford were awarded their penalty…but only after some more abject defending from Mitchell where he stood and watched Damsgard claim a bouncing ball (unchallenged) and then completely sliced his attempted clearance, which just went straight up in the air and when it came down Lacroix was adjudged to have fouled Nathan Collins for the penalty. Sky even made a montage of it, it was that comical!

You’re a lost cause. You only notice the negative.

I guess you missed what I posted about him only a month ago on the ‘Mitchell’ thread.

I don’t deny the first bit but it certainly disproves the second 🤪
