Manchester synagogue attack

If I were to be honest - I don't think it would make the Jewish community safer. The problem has escalated since the October attacks but had been growing since well before that. Google or Bing or whatever you like - something like anti-Semitic attacks in Europe and consider the correlations yourself.
The Islamic jew hate in the UK has been going on long before the October 7th massacre.

So when a hate preacher calls for a violent muslim jihad against non muslims he is simply calling for people to be good muslims, I get it now
"that struggle has now been co-opted to mean violence against non believers." is what the poster said.

You're twisting it, my man.

So does your humanity extend to banning the pro Palestine marches planned for the weekend?
Does you humanity lead you to condemn the demonstrations yesterday?
To be fair here, I think most protesters are simply protesting Israeli responses to the attacks. There has been too much killing. They have a right to protest whether anybody agrees with it or not.
I don't think any have considered, however, how this encourages radical Islam and people looking to justify those actions. It's sleepwalking into justifying the Islamic position on the state of Israel and all people of the Jewish faith. And there are people being swept up with this - who really are bordering on terrorist attitudes themselves.
I sincerely hope some have a think about their actions and their consequences. I would expect the odd attitude or two to perhaps change. But I do wonder how much comes from peers, or some kind of mob/ in group mentality. It feels like that but I'm not on enough social media to see it.

"Al-Shamie entered the UK as a very young child and was granted British citizenship in 2006 as a minor."

That's almost 20 years. Maybe 1 more year and he would have assimilated into our values and way of life.......after all...diversity is our strength!
Oh, he's British.

For a minute, I thought he was the enemy.

They are and we need to do all we can to mitigate the threat.

Including encouraging the current Israeli government from making our task more difficult by their actions in Gaza.

Be honest, do you think it would make our Jewish citizens safer, or more in danger, if Israel withdrew from Gaza and allowed unrestricted aid in?
And maybe the PM not recognising Gaza, and maybe not letting in thousands of people of unknown origin who may harm us, and maybe...

How does one accidentally shoot and kill someone who had already killed, threatened to kill more and had what looked like bombs on him.

In those instances you shoot to kill.
Perhaps the police wanted to question him. The have to gather Intelligence from somewhere.

This is ridiculous. Would they have found a way not to charge this guy if he wasn't dead?
The release of the 7/7 bomber is shocking. What do people need to happen before they have a think about it? If this isn't enough?
Perhaps they release bad guys to see who they pal up with.( I've seen far too many American crime films, sorry).

I suspect this kind of thing has happened before. It may have even worked a few times. Unfortunately, there were clearly times when those on watchlists were not watched. They could have met up with Bin Laden for all we know. It boils down to not being able to watch that many people. The numbers are in the thousands.
To put it into context, there were less than a hundred on IRA watchlists in general.
