By car.I have heard some commentators on the television assert that Selhurst Park is a hard ground to get to !!
It is.

Well, we could agree to rebuild the athletics stadium and redevelop the site as part of the project. That seems like a no brainer on face value.Easier said then done though isn't it.
South London is pretty built up, you are not going to find a brownfield site 10 mins from a decent station are you?
You'll find more space if you go South, but how far do you need to go? How far is too far?
Surely Crystal Palace Park has to be the answer. It feels on paper that it could work, closes to Selhurst, historic site, stadium in disrepair, the London Bridge line (that surely wouldn't be too hard to get more trains to stop at Penge West on match day).
The councils should, be begging us to move there. If we could build something decent, we open up a huge potential South London venue (personally getting sick of all the gigs I have to travel to N London for)
Sorry! Sir Sadiq got there first - 'cos he can override all the objections of the Nimbys up the hill......Well, we could agree to rebuild the athletics stadium and redevelop the site as part of the project. That seems like a no brainer on face value.
Unfortunately, it seems that for various reasons, this is a complete non starter.
It's a tragedy, really.
Same, I always used to walk down Sydenham road back to East Croydon, never understood why so many people jumped on a train at selhurst to get off at East Croydon, it must only be about half a mile walk.
One has to imagine that he would have been happy for Woody Johnson to pay for it.Sorry! Sir Sadiq got there first - 'cos he can override all the objections of the Nimbys up the hill......

Mayor unveils new images showcasing major improvements to Crystal Palace National Sports Centre

It's only a tragedy if we try and fail. This decade we haven't even tried as far as I am aware. With our new owners and a very experienced Chairman, if we were to battle for three years and win we would be in. Totally clear to build whatever new stadium is agreed, IN Crystal Palace. Due to access, space and existing footprint, it could probably be completed in less than three years.Well, we could agree to rebuild the athletics stadium and redevelop the site as part of the project. Seeing as it looks like the ship has sailed at CPNP, we should surely now be looking to follow the new stand with an uplift to the Arthur and the white horse all at the same time re planning. We should be starting on this right now as it will take a good while to have it approved. One has to imagine that he would have been happy for Woody Johnson to pay for it.
I think the timescale is the problem. It would take years to get a stadium built there.
It might be that despite the potential issues, redeveloping Selhurst is just easier and quicker. Visible signs of the main stand construction would be a start. It won't look good if we don't see any in January.
I feel like we need to be a little more aggressive in getting the rest of the ground up to a modern standard. It can't take another 100 years.
Easy for me to say.

If, as is being explored on here, we re- model Selhurst stand by stand, with each one going through the ridiculously slow local council planning system, think twenty years of heartache disruption etc. For many posters I would guess beyond their lives.
Sadly, having said all that, it looks like we have missed the boat.
We did explore the idea, and we even had a stadium design. I think it's all about timescale. They have concluded that it would take too long. Me too. And I have never understood why.I have heard some commentators on the television assert that Selhurst Park is a hard ground to get to !!
I haven't been up to the Park for a few years but when I did drive through there regularly there was nearly always heavy traffic WITHOUT an event going on. Can you imagine 40,000 football supporters on a Saturday afternoon? CarnageCrystal Palace Park is a nightmare to get to without adding 40000 odd thousand fans trying to get to a game. Really is a non starter.
I used to drive all the time and never had a problem. Depends what direction you are coming from but it is London. There is always going to be traffic. That hasn't been any different going as far back as the 1970sBy car.
It is.
But we haven't.
If we were going to reconsider a move elsewhere, this would be the time. Unfortunately, we can't wait another 10 years to make it happen. We need more capacity ASAP.

Easy for me to say.
Two and a half years not 5. Its been said many times and is even mentioned in the planning detailsSP himself said this new main stand would take around 5 years to complete.
Cost wise it doesn't make any sense 200m for one stand and lets say they can do work on others the ground really does have a limit of around 40 thousand it can't go beyond that.
This is why we need a new home one that even if it starts at only 45 thousand is whats best fro the club.
The current site would be worth a few £ as well
I have been to this location numerous times and Selhurst and Selhurst is far worse.
This has been backed by many people who do not have rose tinted specs on.
Both need big improvement but from what I have heard and even what the transport ministry said about Selhurst it is very limited what can be done and Palace even acknowledged this in public transport sense that is.
If it's for the greater god of the club I don't see an issue moving outside the area it's not as if we would be doing MK Dons sort of thing.
I believe the councils was open to it they needed some extras £££ to be onboard and SP doesn't do that plus to much messing about has now killed it (Should have been in the works a long time ago)
Two former owners have said the location was available for the right deal Noades refused because they at the time limited ground size to 35 thousand and he had plans to increase Selhurst to over that so didn't see the point which in the end the council lied to him.
The councils would be happy you got to pay the right people this is why you see the big clubs get things done but it does require £ with one of the biggest things you have to fund is transport Palace don't appear to want to do this spending 10-15million for that side of things appears a lot but it really issued when you are spending 400-500m on a stadium.
We will do the main stand and that will be it some of the others may get some reshuffle or face lifts but nothing else.
People should go checkout all the other clubs in Prem plan wise what they have laid out for there grounds its interesting and shows fans really do matter.
