Main Stand redevelopment thread

Where we suddenly find ourselves on a very positive note, it is crucial we focus on Europe and domestic and therefore retaining ALL our football staff. Players, manager, coaches etc.
our manager and coaches have a great track record in the Europa cup.
Maybe consider holding off any huge construction project in the short term albeit prepare a definite future plan.

We would. There is now a waiting list for season tickets of nearly 16,000 people. Plus 11,000 Members and Golden Eagle members.
Is that 16K deffo? That's a lot to suddenly get in the last year... and I say that as someone that joined the ST waiting list in January 2024 and got my 2 spots in May 2024 as soon as they went on sale, so there can't have been much of a list before this year.

The revised bill of £240m
To be fair the owners are to be applauded for delaying until they have the funding in place. Ron Noades would have flogged 5 year season tickets, invented a new 'Lifeline' scheme and sold half the squad to fund it. As thats exactly what he DID do to get the Holmesdale finished.

Hopefullly we'll see something start soon, even Shipperley in his van outside would do (although maybe not given his court problems a few years back...) 🤐

But it would be good to see something happening, we do need that stand rebuilt as it's a visual sign of us moving onwards and upwards off the pitch as well as on it (and it's made of wood and full of asbestos).

I can't see us moving to a new stadium anytime soon, so best we can do is the new main stand, fill in the corners, stop the Holmesdale from sinking/flooding, sort out the stantions and roof on the Arthur and then somehow dislodge Sainsburys and those flats/houses and rebuild the Whitehorse to match the new stand. Then rebuild the Holmesdale to match as well, but leave the Arthur exactly as it is as a testament to the old school match day experience. You've not been to a football game if you've not waited half an hour for an over priced pint in an overcrowded concourse, to then wade through piss in the bogs and at least once drop your programme in the "trough" in the gents. It's what the tourists will want and dare I say it expect for £200 a seat.
You are selling the idea short. Surely tourists would want a pre-match tour of the AW as well. Could charge £250.00 for the full experience.

Latest updates on Selhurst Park redevelopment

May 2025 update

Crystal Palace rethinking expansion plans

Although plans to expand the Main Stand at Selhurst Park are still very much on schedule, the club have reportedly been left surprised by how costly the entire project is going to be.

As a result, the powers that be are now reportedly weighing up a shift in how they are going to go about the Main Stand expansion. The original plan was to build the new stand over the top of the existing one, allowing the club to continue operating at full capacity for the vast majority of the build.

However, that plan is now reportedly on the verge of being scrapped due to the £200m cost. At that price, it will take Crystal Palace around ten years for them to break even on the project, which could cause issues with financial fair play.

The new idea is a more conventional one – demolish the current Main Stand and rebuild from there. While this will see a temporary reduction in the capacity at Selhurst Park, the construction costs will be significantly less.

Perhaps the Eagles' 2025 FA Cup triumph and subsequent Europa League qualification will help ease some of that financial burden.

Regardless of the construction methods they go for, Palace need to make a decision quickly as construction is set to begin in the coming months.

Can’t see the point in reducing capacity when just about to play in Europe. Would UEFA be happy? Looks like the whole project needs a big rethink, perhaps put main stand on ice, build another tier on WHL, fill in the corners for starters

Not that I dont want to see European nights at Selhurst but any issues with UEFA could easily be resolved by playing games at another London Stadium (As Arsenal did at Wembley for purely financial reasons ).

I was thinking along the same lines. Would a ground share with another London team be totally unrealistic whilst our stadium is developed?

Who though? Which ground would we share?
None are ideal for us but the only realistic one I can think of is West Ham's. As it doesn't belong to them either, and it has the capacity and facilities. The New Den isn't big enough, Charlton is around the same as Selhurst, however. But they'll have loads of games too. If it's a Premier League side, the fixtures can be alternated. Plus West Ham don't have Europe, and probably won't have a cup run either.

If we had to ground share wouldn't Fulham be a reasonable consideration ?

They have a ground capacity similar to SP & presumably any revenue generated would help them pay for their own stand renovation.

Get into bed with CPNP?
They will get all the backing they need for the stadium renovation.
So take it up to 35000 with us as partners?
Stay at Selhurst until it’s ready.
PFI initiative if ever there was one!!
