Liverpool L.Cup Predictions

Controversial opinion but I'd go as strong as possible for this one. It's the shortest route into the Europa League and a chance to knock out one of the big boys left in the competition.

More chance of winning this competition or the conference league than we have of qualifying for Europe in the league. Especially this season as I think the European football will take it's toll on the squad when it comes to the league.

Liverpool need to focus on bigger things, I expect they will play a second string team and this is a brilliant opportunity to knock them out if that's the case.

No - the Carabao cup winners only get the European Conference League.

I'm up for playing a strong team. Hopefully with Nketiah and Hughes replacing Pino and Kamada
In spite of none of the promoted clubs currently being in the bottom four, I find it hard to believe we are in danger of relegation. On the other hand, we are now in tenth with a couple of good teams i.e. Newcastle and Brighton below us. None of the new players have made an impact as yet and we have not had an injury crisis so I think a high place in the PL is unlikely
If we win this round we are in the final eight and would likely be be favourites against any of the teams playing tonight if we get through. We should concentrate on the Cups and get more playing time for squad players in the league games

We really, really need a rest, but also time on the training field. I'd play as second string as we can:

Benitez

Canvot - Lacroix - Guehi

Clyne - Lerma - Kamada - Sosa

Esse - Devenny

Nketiah

We'll likely get annihilated, but I don't care.
Rest my arse. Its only October. All our players except Pino had a good preseason and many of them got a break during international weeks. If any of our players are exhausted as early as October there is something wrong with them. Even Hendo hasn't played every game either.
If we were in March or April I'd say that may be true. To state our players need a rest in October is embarrassing.
Even the whiners like Chelsea, City, etc that are always moaning about playing too many games are not complaining of tiredness at this early stage

I tend to agree.

All this chat about too many games etc. If you look at the top teams, they dont really rotate much. The likes of Salah VVD etc are playing 50 odd games a season.

We also performed well against Brentford and Arsenal, pushing to the very end. Doesn't feel like a fatigued team.

More rubbish. I think I trust OG a bit more than I trust your opinion
Mate what's with the tone? Calm the f down. I've just given my point of view.

I actually can see the point you make and have adjusted my opinion because of it. But your valid point is clouded by the vehemence of its delivery.

Glasner has confirmed that Canvot and Benitez will start.
Richards has a small injury and will be missed with his aerial strength.
I don't anticipate wholesale changes as Glasner doesn't do that, but it wouldn't surprise me if Nketiah, Hughes and Lerma are selected.
I hope Mitchell starts as he's usually pretty decent against Salah; I'm less confident that Sosa will be able to closely mark him.

When we say a strong team, those on the bench on regular weekends are strong. Give them a chance and game time.

One thing I content myself with is the 2004-2005 season we were playing to SURVIVE. Thankfully and hopefully those days are gone.

Play a relatively less strong team compared to a Saturday

Yeah agree some rotation but not excessive. As well as Canvot and Benitez I’d like to see Nketiah get a start. I’d have said in place of Sarr who was poor against Arsenal but Glasner has been talking about pace to get in behind, as well as Pino needing game time so maybe Mateta finally gets a rest. Also Kamada should be rested for Hughes.

Benitez
Canvot Guéhi Cardines
Clyne Hughes Kamada Sosa
Uche Devenny
Nketiah

CPFC 2-1 LFC

Liverpool a bit out of sorts right now, and we’ve had their number for three games running. Neither side will put out their strongest XI for this game, essentially balancing out.

I think Liverpool will want to get the monkey off their back -whilst its true that they have more important games on the horizon, a run of defeats is not a good look for them & the media are already running stories about Slot being sacked & Klopp coming back (However fanciful, for sure they are fuelling the fire) I do believe that either they will start with more or less a full strength team or they will have a bench full of expensive reinforcements.

Hopefully it transpires that I know nothing -

It’s a strange one!

On one hand…would be delighted to beat Liverpool and go through to the next round.

On the other hand, would not be too disappointed if we lost, as a few less games could prove pivotal to our season.

The Carabou cup is a dodgy distraction from our main targets......Europa Conference & Premier League. Added to the FA Cup that makes 4 competitions. Plus many of our Eagles play for their country during the International break.

Too much competitive football, too little downtime to recover.

I Don't want us getting injured. Glasner, don't play the kids. Play the grannies & tea-ladies from the club canteen. Liverpool have the money to buy a posh subs bench. Good luck to them, they will be needing it. What a massive dip in form from them.

With Pawson as ref and no VAR there is only a limited chance we will win. He is rarely allowed anywhere near Palace games since Lineker, Shearer and Murphy slated his VAR intervention for Liverpool as one of the worst ever. He also missed a clear offside goal in the same 1-3 defeat. Maybe Woodman will let one in for old times sake and we lose 2-1 but get the League double later in the season.
