CPFC 2-1 LFC

Liverpool a bit out of sorts right now, and we’ve had their number for three games running. Neither side will put out their strongest XI for this game, essentially balancing out.
Sorry, but that team gets well beaten by Liverpool - Salah would have a field day against Sosa whose defensive skills seem somewhat limited judging by previous performances. Also, Cardines isn't a CB - if he's to play, at least start him as a FB or WB.

Canvot's getting a second chance.
3-1 Liverpool.

The guy was hopeless last week against inferior opposition, but this is an opportunity for minutes.

Another defeat won't be nice, but we don't need to be in this competition.

Canvot's getting a second chance.

So he should. The real test is the response to the mistake, not the mistake itself. If he continues to make them, it means he's no good. If he does not, it means he's a good footballer with a strong mentality.

All that being said, I hardly blame his mindless pass for the result last week, f-ing farcical performance that was. If we can't score against that mob we have no chance elsewhere.

Canvot came to us with only 16 apps for Toulouse in the French League so he is very inexperienced.

He doesn't need a 2nd chance. Footballers are human and make mistakes - I remember Lacroix giving the ball away early last season and the opposition scoring. Wharton got caught on the ball in his first game for us on the South Coast resulting in our conceding a goal. It happens to the best of them.

The important thing is that Glasner seems to rate Canvot and has told him to forget about the mistake and move on.

I think that Canvot looks like he's got a real future.

I mean, come on; he's so young and inexperienced yet is thrown into our first team. At times, with that considered, he's done brilliantly imo.

I would comment that he needs to be not so reliant on his left foot because it limits his in-play options.

Yeah, the guy looks like an absolute beast for a 19 yeah old.

We need to give him as much game time as we can and excuse the odd mistake. That time he was unlucky and it got punished. But looks a real prospect.

I'm quite sure we will be taking this game very seriously. I think knock out football suits us so let's embrace becoming a cup team that can achieve the upper/mid EPL finish as well. It's just a more realistic goal for us to target the cups. So far we have proved to be difficult to beat and quite handy at penalty shoot outs. Long may it continue.

Mate what's with the tone? Calm the f down. I've just given my point of view.

I actually can see the point you make and have adjusted my opinion because of it. But your valid point is clouded by the vehemence of its delivery.
Well said. I wonder why there's so much aggression on this site.

I've definitely changed my mind on this.

Even if we rest a load of players, we wont automatically win the game on Saturday. Might as well have a proper go

I agree.
Richards hardly covered himself in glory initially. We’re all fans now !

This is a game of two managers. The one who sends out a team wanting to win the most probably will.

Pretty crazy that is where the League Cup is now positioned, but it is what it is. Money talks.

Great too that we are at long last competitive against top opposition.

Palace likely getting tonked. If Palace can make a fist of it and keep the score low, that is about the best I could hope for.
Palace to win ? A real long shot, with a large dollop of luck

Liverpool are not the team of last season ,Slot cant find the right chemistry and their defence is all over the place against counter attacks

Both sides however could probably do without this competition at this moment in time but tomorrow we will be in the quarter finals . 2-0 to Palace
