Yeah, loads of positives. Not the finished article by any stretch but I think the fact Khalaili and our forwards were the issue today (when they have been otherwise decent and it has been our centre backs that were troubling) show it isn’t necessarily a system or manager issue. We had more good performances today than bad, which is a decent achievement after a game in Europe on Thursday.

Been a Palace fan past 25 years. Have been to Leipzig, Wembley, Sunderland on a cold wet Tuesday evening- heart ripped out of our away fan base. Half the people around me didn't know the chants and felt we lost our mojo of what makes us Palace. Not a criticism. Maybe just me a romantic at heart who has failed to conform to the reality that is. Thoughts?

I went to Sunderland on a Tuesday evening too. As our Palace coach pulled up to the ground, a copper came on board and read the riot act about the list of offences which would get us ejected/arrested. He finished by saying "By the way I'm from Newcastle. I hope you thrash the w#nkers".

Some interesting reading on here, some contrasting opinions!

I think we look very ‘European’ atm. We have a manager and several new players from the continent.

What I am inferring by that statement is that we look to have a system and some decent players with good quality, we’re just not quick enough to be fully effective in the PL. It’s a frequently expressed opinion - the ‘pace’ of the PL being far quicker than elsewhere.

That can go one of two ways for me:

1. Sage/the team fail to get enough points to steady the board’s nerves, so they decide to change things.
2. We start to adjust to the necessary pace and begin looking like one of the better teams in the PL, with results to match.

I think the clean sheet was huge today, that’ll boost confidence. We would have deserved a win IMHO, all round the performance was improved, even if still far from perfect.

Even if incrementally, I’m hoping we’re on an upward trajectory as a team.

The way Nketiah didn’t take the shot was a shootable offence

I thought much the same in real time, but having seen it again I'm the ball held up a tad and was a bit behind Nketiah when he passed it. The defender was probably between Nketiah and the goal so I can understand why he passed it.

He played it behind Sarr, though.

Apart from one DCL chance we were v solid, and had decent opportunities.

Very very different set up today. Almost not pressing from the front, and happy to sit in a low block without the ball. Full backs starting position was deeper and so was Warton and Timber.

Shows that the manager (unlike the last) is able to set the team up completely differently. Which is nice to see.

Maybe we'll see a bit more of this. Tight and low block away from home in trickier games. Hight press and intensity at home.

Very unlucky not to take all 3 points home. And hopefully it demonstrates to the detractors that Sage knows what he's doing and how to adjust the balance

A touch of pragmatism from Sage, something Glasner lacked and still hasn't learned given the Coventry game yesterday.

I expect Sage to return to a more high press approach once the players are up to speed with his system.

You might want to check out the goal Forest conceded yesterday. Munoz didn’t look so good then.

Time will tell, but if inter Milan wanted khalalli that is a massive signal for me. I think he will become a fans favourite, I like what I see he just needs time.

I said it before I feel we had the best of Munoz, wonderful effect on our club and helped us to 3 trophy’s as well as leaving us a nice profit that paid for a replacement 9 years younger

Before I traversed to a local 'Public House' I received a message from a long-standing supporter which contained the words "I was proud to be a Palace supporter today".
He was impressed with the performance which he never expected.

This is what we have to continue to do. We did it with Andersen when we bought Lacroix who was a few years younger and we paid little more than half of what we sold the Dane for.

I sort of understand all the positive comments about Kamada today - it was an energetic and hard working performance.

I thought he was terrible for at least a year to begin with, but that he really improved and I was happy that he signed on for another year in the end.

Still, I can't imagine that the best Palace XI includes Kamada now, at least not in this formation.

In a very short time Timber has not only shown that he's our best signing of the summer but also illustrated all the things Kamada, even at his best, did badly last year. Timber covers ground with purpose. He is looking to tackle and compete. He pulls out of nothing. He uses the ball no less neatly than Kamada but his athletisism and aggression are miles better. Kamada cannot be first choice in centre mid whilst Wharton and Timber are fit.

As a no10 Kamada isn't as hopeless as he was in the begining, but he still lacks pace, strength, and match winning individuality. He helps us a lot in the middle third, but rarely in the final third. One of the big reasons we went off the boil last year was that our front three couldn't create and score by themselves. Kamada doesn't solve that, he makes it worse. The best chance came to him today and he looked like what he is, a player who isn't a natural in the key moments in the box.

I'm not suggesting he's useless, but in this system he just doesn't have a spot.

Timber was brilliant at winning back the ball, but limited once he got it, I thought Kamada was our best player. And maybe I missed Khilaili's defensive mistakes today, but I thought he was excellent and provided an attacking outlet whereas Mitchell was still in our half when we were crying out for an overlap. The biggest disappointment for me today was JSL who was a sack of spuds. But a very promising performance, should have won, and I am right behind Sage.WE WILL MURDER FOREST.

That's how I've interpreted his play so far as well. Having said that we benefit from his ball-winning skills and his strength. I think he and Wharton will prove to be a good midfield partnership, especially if Kamada continues in his role between the lines.
