Labour Party politics

Apart from the £500m+ a year it costs the taxpayer? Far more come here under the scheme, than Brits go elsewhere I believe

Even the BOE has now woken up to the impact AI will have on jobs for young people. Still Labour will just crack on ignoring the data and allowing our EU friends to export their youth unemployment to the UK.

It's costing the taxpayer a fortune and will be used to import young people to compete with our own at the same time as youth unemployment is rising.

I agree that travel broadens the mind but this will disadvantage those that stay at home.

The globalists at play again.
Just another step to indoctrinate youth with the idea that national borders are unimportant and that we are citizens of Earth.

The British will no longer exist in the globalist scheme.

When you thought this government couldn't get worse, they do a massive U-turn on farmer's inheritance tax, and when Parliament is closed for Christmas.

Maybe they figured that farmers committing mass suicide might be a bad look before the election.

The worst government ever.

Vote Reform.

It maybe the suicide angle that has persuaded the government to partially reverse the IHT, but it maybe the scenes of farmers protests in France. They are not happy and are not shy in taking action. If British farmers took similar action, it would be carnage for the government. Unfortunately yet again the ideology of this labour government has been proven to be faulty.

And where was Rachel Reeves?

These people are a disgrace to Politics.

Well they will be up against some tough competition but I know what you mean.

People will always complain about taxes but the really appalling aspect of this is the lack of government data. When this hike was announced the Treasury was forced to admit that they had not done their due diligence on the impact it would have on the farming industry.

Somebody had done a basic calculation that it wouldn't really impact small farmers and Rachel had just gone with that. I would expect when you have a year to prepare a budget that some serious research would be done on the impact it would have on the country. And apparently this does happen except in this case. Quite why this one slipped through without proper data research is where the incompetence comes in.

Anyone can go to an EU country, as has always been the case.

I hear you, but if you can't boil them alive, you will probably be sticking a knife in their brain first, so not really any different to Halal killing.

It's a cruel practice, so I'm in favour.

Most ways of dispatching animals could hardly be described as nice.

Oh I agree. I'm in favour of stopping the lobsters being boiled alive. I'm also in favour of getting rid of halal slaughter. But you don't hear animal rights activitists go after the halal slaughter.

Because they are cowards.

I know I'm spot on when you disagree with me.

I bet my life is better than yours.

The point is that this is just another example of this government being very amateurish. It seems to listen to a certain segment of its advisors and just introduces a policy without actually analysing the situation.
So, the IHT farm tax was just introduced without consulting DEFRA; they were just told the day before. Therefore a sledgehammer was used to crack a nut by bringing far too many farms into the tax regime because Labour don’t understand how small farms work.
Similarly, all pensioners must be rich so only those claiming benefits get the WFA. Again, no analysis seems to have been carried out. WFA later watered down after actually understanding the problem.
Then there are the promises broken or deflected. Starmer clearly stated that if elected he would honour the WASPI women’s compensation. Didn’t honour it.
1.5 million homes to be built by end of parliament. But there are just under 1 million empty homes in the UK already and over 1 million existing approved applications. The government just don’t understand that the country already has sufficient capacity within the system already.
Mayoral and council elections postponed so that the changes they want to introduce can be made. How about delaying the changes and letting the public vote continue as laid down by parliament.
It’s just a catalogue of amateur government decisions…
