Labour Party politics

They could certainly save money by doing it differently.

Why not ban all political party involvement and only allow people to stand in their own names as independents, with strict limits on the money they spend and where it comes from. They could profess broad support for a party but not be supported, or restricted, by it. Independents already play significant roles in local government, being people who genuinely care about their locality rather than their political future. This would enhance that. They would need to convince people directly, on the doorstep, in public meetings and on TV. Rather than just because of a label. As our national politicians often cut their teeth in local politics this would produce people we want, rather than those we are given.
So who decides how and when to spend money if all an independent could buy was a paper clip ?

I suggest you read the explanation I referenced. Which comes from a non partisan, non profit local government information organisation. I prefer to trust their analysis than that of any politically motivated one.

It’s more than 4 and none appear to have been postponed until 2028.
May I suggest you read the link you posted and, in particular the first paragraph. When are the Sussex elections now being held 🤔, from your reliable link, looks like 2028!!

Oh, dear.

It has a rude meaning here too. The bloke is a c***.

Youth unemployment soaring and what does the Labour government want to do? Give freedom of movement to EU under 30's, wow just wow.
Yep unbelievable. There will be no record of how many arrive ( or leave) despite what some in here think. So claiming there will be a cap is absolute bollocks. I also believe it may extend to 35 if following the other Youth mobility criteria

So now we are spending tax payers money on tackling 'misogyny' in schools.

So we invite men of misogynistic cultures into the country in their millions and then spend tax payers money on what I'm confident will be a half arsed, ineffectual scheme to spot early signs of misogyny.

Is this a joke? These f-ckers put our women at risk with their insane policy and then tell us how proud they are to protect women.

Vote Reform.

Oh, dear.

These things happen apparently John Toshack became a manager in Turkey the crowd roared of laughter as it means bollo**s, there is/was a Turkish company called aslick.

Not sure if this is the correct thread but I am perplexed by the Bank of England's continuous drop in the rate of interest.
Inflation has admittedly just dropped a small amount but it has been high since Labour came to power.
I took to looking at the latest appointee - a Professor Taylor - appointed by Rachel Reeves - presumably in my conspiracy theory world to do her dirty work.
The others have been on the policy committee for a while.
I found their voting records on whether to raise, maintain or lower the rates.
Taylor has only had 11 meetings to date and has voted to lower rates 9 times and maintain twice - 82% overall to lower rates.
Only two other people have voted to lower rates more than that - one @ 16 votes and one @ 13 votes - but remember that those two have been on the committee for 96 meetings - 30% to lower rates - if you like.
Taylor has been appointed by Reeves simply to get rates down wherever possible and regardless of whether it is the right thing to do - I call that Government interference.
He replaced someone who was somewhat more conservative in their voting.
Sorry to ramble on but the rate drops make no financial sense to me.
As soon as Labour came to power, inflation started to rise and rates started to drop - hmmm!

What’s wrong with rejoining Erasmus ,gives the young of the UK the freedom to travel ,study and work in Europe .
But it will allegedly cost us £8b to be a part of the scheme and we are a bankrupt country.
I want only the best for the younger generation but this is a ton of money - if it is true

When Gov debt interest is 8 % of spend, anything that works towards lower interest rates generally has to be a good thing, and the bank always provide a lot of data supporting decisions.

Just read a bit in Governors comments that they're forecasting 2% inflation earlier to spring next year, that is good news.
