Jørgen Strand Larsen

If we still go ahead and sign JSL then it might mean JP goes for an opp on his knee. That would take the spotlight off him and, by the time he'd recovered, he might be in a better mindset to contribute to our run in, plus hopefully he'd be fixed and ready to sell in the summer.

I have a feeling he'll end up getting a last-minute loan though, either to Milan or Juve.

I appreciate you’re probably not describing Strand-Larsen as reliable and consistent but Burnley bought Ugochukwu & Broja, aged 21 & 23, this season for £25M & £21M respectively, both from Chelsea and with PL experience.

£25M - £30M is more the figure for Strand Larsen, who Wolves bought for £23M and has scored 1 goal all season.
Ugochukwu has scored 3 goals in 22 Premier League games. And he went for £25m. Broja is a walking surgery, who has been relegated from the Premier League twice (from memory). He has been sold for £21m. Strand Larsen was Wolves top scorer last season with 14 premier league goals and hasn't had any major injuries.

I would say £40m is a fair price for him, with your examples almost further proving my point about today's striker valuations.

Larsen is an inconsistent (putting it kindly) striker who is costing way over 40m. Thiago, also 24, had very little PL experience before this season and he has outscored Larsen 15-1 in the league this year
He was top scorer for Wolves last year and this season they are an absolute basket case. Prior to Rob Edwards, not one player in their team was performing well. Since Rob Edwards arrival, Strand Larsen has been benched because he doesn't fit Edwards style of play.

Thiago is an phenomenal player who will most likely go on to the highest level of the sport. Can't compare exceptions to the rule though. For every Thiago, there is 10 Nikolas Fullkrug's.

I can't predict the future but I do hope JSL comes good, he'll have excellent supply on the pitch this season and for £43m is probably the best striker on the market we could have gone and bought in January.

Cant buy unless we sell JP.

All other arguments academic.

OK. I know how mad what I am about to point out is. But, it's interesting that despite the news the Mateta deal is off, there have not been reports that the Strand Larsen deal is off.

Is it conceivable that we have both JPM and JSL!!!???

We have to buy JSL, send Mateta to the U21s until the summer, Muñoz money to come in the summer, 15m for Mateta, Mateta and Glasner are taking the piss out of us, cant let it happen, Parish has to come down on them with fury, you pay their wages, pair of C***s

I understand the anger, but if we do that I don't think we'll get anywhere near 15m for him. If we're set on spending a fortune on JSL (which I still can't get my head around) then we have to ensure we get maximum value for JP - hence he needs to also play and play well. If we can't get a decent fee for him in the summer then it makes the JSL fee seem even more obscene and puts us in a worse position financially for the new manager.

Not the case according to quotes all over sky sports.

Rumours on X that Henderson quote about the group know reasons for issues is being linked to matetas attitude last few months. But this is just rumours spreading on X
Would his attitude have improved if he'd been dropped?

He cant play, he has burnt his bridges, the fans will crucify him, some transfer deadlines finish later, loan him to one of them, no fee, 50% of the wages, cant stand to see him in a Palace team again, the deadline in Turkey is 12th September, send him there
