very easy to overlook his influence over the years…took pelters from fans (at least online) for years, but people who mattered still backed & picked him week in, week out. only lost his place to AWB which holds no shame! then held it down again after AWB left.

Not sure if others have watched "A Life At Palace - Joel Ward's Farewell", a short interview / doc about him, but I found it quite emotional. A genuine legend of the club, even if not one of the most talented players to represent us.

Always gave 100% even when up against more accomplished players. His loyalty to the club has been tremendous. Seems a very decent human being too.
Will we ever see the likes of him again? Probably not. Good luck Joel in whatever you choose to do next.
