Jared Bowen

If we do sign him we might get the hard nut Danny Dyer at our matches , that will put the fear of god into the opposition .

This touches on the main worry I have with the current squad.

When we signed the likes of Eze, Olise, Wharton, Guehi, Richards, Henderson, and to be fair some who did not work out for us like Sorloth, we had a hardened bunch of leaders within the first eleven like Ward, Tomkins, McArthur, and a few others like Chieck Doucoure. The conditions were favourable for young players to come in and shine with that core leadership around them.

We do not have that now. I am not sure - if we were to identify and attract the next Eze or the next Guehi - if they would have the same platform to shine.

For these reasons I look at signings like Xhaka at Sunderland, Jordan Henderson first at Brentford then at Chelsea and think we might be wise to look at doing something similar. Is Disasi that sort of character? I hope so.
Bang on.

I just presume he wouldn't come. However, does this mean Sarr is leaving and this is the best idea we can come up with?
Probably. We may need to replace Sarr's goals and all we have otherwise is players who repeatedly underperform their xG
Honestly, I would rather take Diouf from West Ham. At least he would whip over some crosses that potentially could be finished and will have a sell-on value. I think maybe we didn't go for him a year ago is because the upgrade on Mitchell was too small so they went for Sosa as a backup instead. With Riad's injury, maybe he could come with Mitchell dropping into the back 3

Anyway, if we had £50m to spend then surely we'd spend it on three players for £15-18m each, none of whom are proven, and two of whom turn out not be be remotely good enough. Isn't that the big idea? It's really very, very clever.
We've already ticked that box, now we need to break our record fee twice on two players who will feature in limited games, one of whom will be completely ineffectual and gone in 5 months time.

I'm certain that some journalists read this forum (transfer section) for suggestions and then copy and paste them into their articles with a fee plucked off a spinning wheel.

That said, there are limited circumstances where I would approve of some deal for Bowen. I do rate him highly. If he was coming in to play as an IF, no way, completely wrong deal at the wrong time. We are more than covered in that position.

However if he was intended as a Mateta replacement right now I'd give it my blessing, only at the right price, based on the dire situation we are in with Mateta being a wantaway diva and a conniving sod (trying to get of his contract early).
