Israel v Hamas

On a slightly more serious note, a knee-jerk massive military invasion was always going to cause many more civilian casualties than a more considered approach using intelligence and appropriate/proportionate firepower.
And now starving the remaining civilians to death, shows complete military ineptness, worthy of being called war crimes or genocide.
There is blatantly no attempt to distinguish between civilians and Hamas targets. Why would there be ?
This is the ultimate land-grab

You look at all the reports of IDF atrocities over the last few days and not one condemnation from any of them - 18 months into a genocide and they're still tying themselves in knots trying to justify it.

And then they have the gall to try and take a moral high ground when violence occurs the other way.

Shameless tabloid trolls.

Interesting that the only incident mentioned they have an issue with too was one against Christians. The ones against the Muslims absolutely fine though.

What should they have done then - mirror Hamas? Kill 1,182, wound 4,000, take 251 hostage. Kill by shooting, asphyxiation and burning alive, grenade explosions, RGP and missile attacks. Subject some victims to mutilation, sexual violence, and other forms of deliberate brutality before or after death. Parade dead naked bodies of young women through the streets in front of cheering crowds. Put video footage online of graphic killings, abductions, desecration of bodies, hostages being mistreated, corpses desecrated, and victims in their final moments accompanied by celebratory captions. Kill parents in front of their children gang rape women, loot and burn down homes.
Would that be proportionate?

If only you cared half as much about the complexities of urban warfare and the geopolitics of the Middle East as you do about scoring moral points, your posts might be a bit more interesting.

I bow down to your extensive knowledge and experience in both after dedicating your career to it.

Jeremy Bowen!! He is an activist, not a journalist and should be fired from the BBC and never employed again.
Your bias is showing!

He is a well respected, very experienced and very brave war correspondent.

His reporting is never less than objective and balanced. Only those totally committed to one side in any conflict would think otherwise.

I can provide multiple examples of his bias which have led to upheld complaints or apologies but I would be wasting my time as you are so intellectually dishonest.

Not a rush of responses from the usual hands, your point is well made

Not one person has even attempted to justify what Hamas did.

Perhaps he can put up the same statistics for Gaza next.

Perhaps you can answer as to whether it would be a proportionate response.

Well given they have gone far beyond that a long time ago I think you can answer your own question, George.

Unless you think an Israeli life is worth more than 50 Palestinian ones.

Really, we must have all missed the naked bodies of dead, raped women being paraded in front of cheering Israeli crowds and videos of the beheading of infants being posted online.

So they should still go further than this then?

“The Gaza war began on October 7, 2023, following a Hamas-led attack on Israel. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, as of June 2, 2025, at least 54,470 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza due to Israel's military offensive. This figure is considered a conservative estimate, as it only includes deaths registered at health facilities, and thousands more are believed to be missing or buried under rubble, with estimates of over 11,000 unaccounted for. A study in The Lancet from July 2024 suggested the total death toll, including indirect deaths from starvation and lack of healthcare, could be as high as 186,000 or more.”

No other country gets this level of scrutiny during a conflict. Why is this?

Because Israel are one of our allies and we have direct complicity in what is going on and can exert some influence over it? Or at least restrict what we are selling them or put pressure on by what we say on the world stage.

Surely that’s not hard to understand? Or is making that point an attempt at deflection or suggesting we should look the other way?

Ah, but it's from both her allies and enemies.

The definition of an ally is to support someone else.
