I agree with this. If I'm going to criticize anything apart from finishing its that we played with no where near the intensity that we play in the Premiership. Had we moved the ball around as quick as we can Larnaca would have made mistakes while trying to keep us at bay. Instead the pace was too slow and much easier for a team with less ability to read

I agree with this assessment.
We were laboured in possession for periods, and at times resembled our team under Mr Hodgson.
 
I think us fans also need to consider that playing in Europe is very different to playing in the Premiership. We will learn and improve no doubt but teams like Larnaca will park the bus, frustrate, dive about, waste time, etc. We kept our discipline but its fair to say its a learning curve for many of our players.

I've heard the phrase 'wake up call' a lot today when Palace are being discussed. I think thats about right. What I love about this Palace team and Glasner is they do try and rectify issues almost immediately. I'm betting there will be a big improvement next time.
 
We let in a very soft goal last night, if we’d got a draw it wouldn’t feel as bad. Wigan away 0-5 in 2003? Was the absolute low point for me. A crap day out made Wigan look like Real Madrid, no decent players and no plan. We’re a world apart from that now.
 
Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise that we get to find our feet (hopefully!) in the Conference League, rather than being chucked in the deep end of the Europa League.

Indeed this debacle was in 2003.Dougie Freedman and Andy Johnson were in the team.
Wigan manager was Paul Jewell.

We have been talked up in this competition when this is our first proper stint in Europe. That has not helped our plight.
We have also become unaccustomed to losing lately, so this seems like a disaster, when in fact it is just a minor setback in a competition where you don't have to win all your games to qualify.

Lose again at home and things will get a little more tense.
 
Apart from not booking their keeper I think the ref had a good game. Didn’t blow for all tackles which were hard. Prem footy would have been 8 yellows and constant stop start. All in all he was MOTM imo.
 
Same old story of not taking chances. Had JPM scored that sitter in the first half, I think it would have been game over.

I do also see it as a blessing in disguise. There seemed to be some complacency from players and fans in that we just have to turn up for these group games. The saving grace is that the defeat has little impact. We just need to ensure we finish in the top 8 which we still have a good chance of doing.

It was a bad day at the office. It happens. Disappointing but not the end of the world. I sense we’ll have more joy in our away fixtures.

I think for me it was Sunderland at home when we were 0:4 down at halftime, at least it didn't get any worse in the second half but I think that's because Sunderland took their foot off the gas.

I recall this game which I attended.
George Wood was in goal and the other players included Cannon,Nebbeling and Aylott.
The result triggered protests against Ron Noades outside the Main Stand.
